JOB SUMMARY:

Sky View Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, a 192-bed Skilled Nursing Facility located in Croton-on-Hudson, has an opening for a **Temporary**, Full-Time Maintenance Technician to assist with special facility projects. There is a possibility that this position may lead to a permanent Full-Time position. Sky View serves as the bridge between hospital and home, spanning the gap from recovery to community reentry. Our luxurious and hotel-like environment is the ideal setting for those in need of Post Acute Rehabilitation or Long-Term Care. Our team of highly skilled physical, occupational, speech, and respiratory therapists really care and work together to create an individualized therapy plan that helps residents reach their highest level of functioning in as short an amount of time as possible – preparing for their eventual return home.

• The role of the Maintenance Technician is to maintain the day-to-day operations and to assume responsibility for maintaining the physical asset of the property under the direction of the Director of Plant Operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: During the course of your shift you may be required to perform some or all of the following:

• Maintenance of interior of building and exterior grounds.Repairs as needed and as directed by the Director of Environmental Services.
• Maintain hand rails, walls, floors, stairs, ceilings, lighting, furnishings, HVAC, general equipment, kitchen and laundry equipment not under manufacture’s contract, wheelchairs, resident equipment, domestic water systems, refrigeration, electrical devices, engineering tools and equipment.
• Responsible for the completion of all engineering service requests as assigned which include preventive maintenance. Perform preventative maintenance as directed.
• Performs the functions of grounds person or painter as needed.
• Complete make-ready process of vacant rooms as directed by the Director of Plant Operations.
• Maintain inventory controls for cost effective operations.
• Deliver all necessary and required goods to their respective units as assigned.
• Coordinate special projects as directed by the Director of Plant Operations or Administrator.
• Assist in monitoring all work being performed by outside contractors.
• Responsible for 24-hour emergency maintenance service as scheduled.
• Prepare to be called into work and/or work extended hours due to snow, emergencies, or other staff needs.
• Carry cell phone as required for on-call maintenance.
• Monitor and maintain all building systems as assigned.
• Maintain dumpster areas in good condition.
• Responsible for alerting Director of Engineering of any unusual occurrence and/or damage that have or that may occur to the facility.
• Maintain a professional courteous manner with all residents, visitors and vendors, contractors, and fellow employees.
• Assure safety standards are used which company with all Facility, City, State, Federal and OSHA guidelines.
• Ensure all HIPAA requirements are adhered to.
• Adhering to all facility and department policies and procedures.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Education:

• Minimum High School Diploma or High School Equivalent.

Work Experience:

• At least 2 years’ experience in maintenance/engineering, preferably in Long Term Care.

Job Knowledge/Requirements:

• Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
• Must know how to operate various equipment and tools; familiarity with basic plumbing, lighting and electrical devices, painting, fire alarm and sprinkler systems, general building maintenance.
• Prepare to be called into work and/or work extended hours due to snow, emergencies, or other staff needs.
• Knowledge of gas, oil, electric and utility locations. Understanding and awareness of other items on the grounds including waste-water locations, etc.
• Must have a clean driving record.

ADA Requirements:

Candidate will have the physical ability to perform job related duties, which may require lifting, bending, stooping, stretching, pulling and pushing up to 50lbs or more as needed.
