Reports To: Chief Engineer and/or Assistant General Manager

Status & Salary: Non-Exempt, Full-time or Part-time

Scheduled Hours: 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM

SUMMARY OF ROLE:

Maintenance is what keeps a hotel running smoothly. To deliver a great guest experience – a Maintenance Technician will make sure everything is working so guests are safe and comfortable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

  • Complete minor repairs such as replacing ceiling tiles, filters, light bulbs, patching vinyl, painting, repair toilets and sinks, etc.
  • Perform preventative maintenance duties as detailed in the hotel preventative maintenance calendar
  • Monitor efficiency of equipment and electrical systems such as air conditioning controls, guest entrance/access doors, television sets, lighting systems and make minor repairs and/or replacements to ensure things are working properly and efficiently at all times
  • Refurbish furniture and fixtures within guest rooms such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows and counters. Paint and finish furniture and fixtures in guest rooms, if needed
  • Maintain the safety and cleanliness of the exterior of the facility, grounds, exercise/sport facilities, etc., (including property signs and lighting)
  • Ensure the security of inventory and assets such as tools, supplies, equipment, furniture, televisions, etc.
  • Follow established safety procedures at all times. Immediately report any health and safety incident, unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor or manager on duty
  • Understand and maintain guest service standards and policies
  • Expedite completion of work tickets produced by guests and co-workers
  • Maintain daily logs as per hotel procedure
  • Remove snow and salt exterior areas to ensure guest safety when necessary
  • Respond in a courteous and prompt manner to all guest questions and/or requests to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Work as part of a team and communicate with other departments as per hotel procedures to ensure excellent quality and service
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of and experience with general building maintenance and repairs
  • Accuracy and speed for executing assigned tasks and job responsibilities
  • Ability to work a variety of days, including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and self-control
  • Good comprehension and communication skills, with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through verbal communication
  • Must demonstrate enthusiasm, trustworthiness, personal integrity and honesty
  • Must be detailed oriented, able to plan, prioritize, multi-task and meet job responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to operate safely in the workplace

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • Experience in maintenance services is preferred
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
