Maintenance Mechanic (3rd Shift) / Sewer District
Job description
SALARY: $60,751 (+Differential) *Plus excellent Benefits, Compensation Plan and NYS Retirement*
Maintains and repairs mechanical, hydraulic and electromechanical machinery and equipment at the county waste water
control facility; does related work as required. This is skilled mechanical work involving responsibility for independently
performing a variety of installation repair and maintenance tasks on waste water treatment and related equipment requiring a
good knowledge of one or more mechanical trades. This class differs from that of the less skilled position of Maintenance
Worker by the more skilled nature of the work and the increased supervision responsibilities. Work is performed under
supervision of the Supervising Maintenance Mechanic with leeway allowed for exercise of independent judgment in carrying
out the details of work. Supervision is exercised over the work of subordinate employees assigned to a variety of installation
repair and maintenance tasks. Does related work as required. NOTE: Details regarding hours will be discussed/determined
at the interview level.
Typical work activities for this opportunity are: (*Illustrative Only)
- Assigns, supervises and performs a wide variety of repairs to pumps, mechanical screens, heat exchanger and reactor,
hydraulic equipment;
- Supervises and participates in the inspection and preventative maintenance on pumping machinery, conveyors,
- Performs a wide variety of plumbing and related plant cleaning and lubrication tasks;
- Supervises and performs installation and replacement of a variety if plant equipment and machinery;
- Consults with manufacturer’s representatives, supervisors, and subordinates relative to plant equipment functioning,
- Aides journey level tradesmen such as plumbers, electricians, carpenters and others as required;
- Prepares a variety of records and reports dealing with preventative maintenance and repair functions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Four (4) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of sewage and treatment
plant equipment or similar mechanical and hydraulic equipment.
