Maine Families Home Visitor
Job description
Maine Families (MF) -Franklin Family Visitor reports directly to the Manager of Social Services who also acts as the Maine Families Team Leader and/or the Program Manager
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
- Establishes a trusting relationship with MF families through regular home visits
- Applies working knowledge of child development and family dynamics to enhance parenting skills and to emotionally support MF families
- Assist parents in connecting with community resources
- Develops and updates Family Service Plan in collaboration with family and management
- Meets with supervisor weekly to assess family status
- Reports observations and activities to as required to the Manager of Social Services
- Performs screening of on-going child development, makes referrals when appropriate
- Assists clients with applications for programs such as medical or financial assistance
- Documents home visits and contacts with families within 48 hours of visit on an on- going basis while developing strategies and referrals for families
- Provides and promotes support for the programs of the Franklin County Children’s Task Force
- Other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor or management personnel
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Experience in working with and providing services to children and families
· Ability to work in a fast paced, ever changing environment
· Ability to set firm boundaries with families and adhere to boundaries set forth by Maine Families Standards of Practice and management of Maine Families.
· Computer literacy in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word
· Ability to observe and report accurately on the functioning of individuals and families
· Emotional maturity and ability to exercise good judgment
· Ability to handle stressful situations
· Ability to abide by the FCCTF’s Code of Conduct
· Current driver’s license, insurance and availability of vehicle
· Ability to provide services in multiple settings including participant homes, virtually and by phone.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· B.S. or B.A. in Early Childhood Education, Community Health, Rehabilitation or related field is required.
· One year experience working with young children and their families.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
