HealthPartners North Suburban Family Physicians has an exciting opportunity for an LPN or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our Well @ Work team in Waite Park, MN. This LPN or CMA position will be based at our Well @ Work clinic located in Waite Park, MN. This clinic operate similar to a primary care clinic but focuses on serving employees and their families of specific employers. The clinic treats anything from acute and chronic care services to preventive care and well-being support. This role is responsible for a variety of duties including performing some administrative functions such as checking patients in for their appointments, answering phone calls and scheduling appointments as well as performing typical LPN/Certified Medical Assistant duties including:


  • Rooming patients
  • Performing vital signs and other pertinent physical measurements
  • Assist with physical assessments for pre-placement exams
  • Draw labs and perform drug screens
  • Administration of medication and immunizations


Additional accountabilities include:


  • Conducts pre-visit planning, visit processes and other Care Model Process workflows.
  • Initiates screening and data collection for patients in an ambulatory care setting under the direction of a provider or RN using HealthPartners’ consulting nurse guidelines.
  • Acts as a first responder to medical emergencies within the clinic.
  • Performs accurate and timely charting to support patient care and service.
  • Obtain health information, accurate vital signs and recognize and report variances.
  • Implements patient plan of care as directed by the provider and or RN.
  • Accurately document observations, actions and patient outcomes in EMR.
  • Implements patient education when appropriate.
  • Stocks and cleans exam rooms between patients and end of session as needed.
  • Sterilizes/cleans equipment and instruments. Maintains sterilization equipment properly.
  • Monitors and requests supplies (or communicates to appropriate staff member) to ensure proper inventory and avoid interruption in service.
  • Complies with applicable legislations such as OSHA, COLA, HPCMC and infection control standards.
  • Assists in orientation and training of new personnel as assigned to ensure established procedures are clearly understood and followed.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities.
  • Participates actively in self-development and educational activities.
  • Complies with Code of Conduct and all policies, procedures and standing orders.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned, holding themselves accountable.
  • Performs venipuncture and skin puncture to obtain blood samples for diagnostic purposes by drawing appropriate amount of blood, identifying specimens and transmitting to appropriate area for analysis.
  • Completes scheduled cleaning requirements for the designated work areas. Documents completion of work to comply with infection control and OSHA standards.
  • Reports accidents and conditions that interfere with the safe, efficient completion of tasks.
  • Adheres to protective clothing requirements.


This position requires:


  • High School diploma or GED
  • FOR CMA: Graduate of an accredited MA program and current Medical Assistant Certification through AAMA or AMT
  • FOR LPN: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current LPN license in Minnesota.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification for health professionals through the American Heart Association or Red Cross required within 90 days of hire and maintained throughout employment. On-line CPR certification is not acceptable
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including appropriate use of English grammar and spelling
  • Demonstrated ability to function with multiple priorities and interruptions


Preferred requirements include:


  • At least six months recent (within the last 3 years) experience in a direct patient care setting
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records


Physical requirements include:


  • Must possess speech, hearing and sight skills to perform the functions of the position.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English proficiently.
  • Body mobility, coordinated dexterity of hand, ear and eye, sensory acuity and verbal ability to perform the functions of the position.
  • The ability to work walking, standing, and/or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
  • The ability to lift, carry, bend, reach, squat, kneel on an occasional basis.
  • The ability to read, analyze and collect data.
