Position Summary

The RN or LPN is responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients following established protocols. Assists physicians and staff in coordinating patient care. Functions as primary liaison between patients, physicians and staff.

Essential Functions

  • Assist Physician to provide safe, efficient, quality care
  • Maintain an environment of safety for patients, self and others
  • Coordinate medical care and patient flow activities. Ensure care delivered to patient is appropriate and in accordance with Physician orders
  • Maintain medical protocols with full consideration of patient safety and needs
  • Document in patient EHR
  • Serve as a medical and management resource for decision making and problem solving as related to patient care
  • Serve as a liaison between staff and physicians, assisting with scheduling issues, and resolution of conflict or questions related to patient care
  • Ensure that medical staff is adhering to all policies, procedures and protocols including OSHA and HIPAA
  • Maintain patient confidentiality
  • Monitors ordering of medical supplies and submits orders as needed

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or BSN from accredited school of nursing is required
  • Must maintain current nursing license from the NC Board of Nursing
  • Current CPR certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of current nursing theory, regulations and practices to give and evaluate patient care
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/ maintain a safe work environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Ability to work effectively with all practice departments to ensure excellent patient care
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations

Working Conditions

  • Standing and walking for prolonged periods of time. Physical demands include some bending, stooping, and stretching. Use of the telephone, computer and other related instruments or devices while communicating with patients, caregivers, physicians, and staff. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
