LPN-1 | Waypoint Recovery Center | Cameron, South Carolina
Job Summary:

The Nurse is a leader, an advocate for client care and plans and manages client care. Provides the day to day nursing care of the detoxification clients; and ensures their safe care throughout the detoxification process according to the policies / procedures, federal and South Carolina state laws and regulations, JACO and DHEC Standards.
Job Duties:

LPN in good standing with the State of South Carolina and a current LPN license. Ability to maintain pleasant working relationships; detail oriented; works effectively, independently; highly organized and able to multi-task and prioritize; reliable and responsible; excellent written communication skills and professional telephone manner; and readily takes initiative.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Nursing Duties – General
1. Administering drugs, medications, treatments, inoculations, and tests as allowed by law
2. Implementing physician orders and authenticating in writing, within a reasonable time, and included in the patient record
3. Completing other tasks within the scope of nurse practice and the program services and procedures.
4. Records patient observations and activities in patient records accurately and timely in accordance with nursing standards and organizational policy and procedure.
Detox Responsibilities
1. Oversees all aspects of the detox patient admission process
2. Obtaining physical assessment data and health history
3. Monitor clients through a safe detox
4. Monitor withdrawal symptoms in detox client
Medication
1. Accurately passes meds to clients and documents med pass
2. Completes documentation in the MAR as required
3. Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, including transcribing and administering routine and prescribed medications in accordance with procedures established
Other
1. Records patient observations and activities in patient records accurately and timely in accordance with nursing standards and organizational policy and procedure
2. May be designated Charge Nurse for a shift, with oversight of LPNs or nursing assistants
3. Actively and compassionately interacts with patients to encourage engagement in treatment
4. Practice and encourage assertive communication delivered with honesty and a willingness to hear feedback. Create a safe environment where staff is encouraged to deliver creative ideas, client safety concerns, etc.
5. Demonstrate, promote and role model leadership behaviors and organizational values
6. Serve as a resource person, client advocate and role model for multidisciplinary staff
7. Participate in departmental and facility quality improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve care, safety, service and efficiency, making recommendations and implementing improvement opportunities as appropriate
8. Follow procedure, function as a role model, and provide direction during emergency procedures (actual and simulated)
9. Comply with all applicable laws and regulations pertaining to and including CARF, HIPAA, State and Federal regulations as appropriate to areas of responsibility
10. Monitor unit safety and work to produce a safe environment.
11. Perform other duties as assigned

7. Treat all co-workers and clients with dignity and respect at all times.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Direct and indirect client contact as deemed appropriate.
2. Use of good body mechanics and a physical demand factor of medium work. Intermittent physical activity, including walking, standing, sitting, lifting up to 30 pounds and supporting clients, is expected.
3. Working conditions include exposure to allergens (e.g., latex), potential hazards (e.g. chemicals, infection, biohazards, wastes, and computer use.
4. Must be able to tolerate stressful situations and various conditions unpleasant to the sense of sight, touch, and smell.
5. Ability to adjust to increased workload.
ATTENDANCE/PUNCTUALITY EXPECTATIONS
1. Reliable in punctuality and attendance, adhering to facility and departmental policies.
2. Demonstrates appropriate use of benefit time without such things as:
a. Recurring absences in conjunction with days off.
b. Frequent occurrences of single days off.
3. Complies with company and departmental policies with respect to attendance, which includes providing required documentation and notification of at least two hours prior to starting time or as established by departmental policies.
4. Adheres to time allotted for breaks and meals, and returns to work at designated times.
5. Does not experience absences that adversely affect the ability of the department to satisfactorily perform essential job functions.
