Position Overview:

The Loan Product Senior Director is responsible for driving the strategic intent and economic optimization of the business through the growth of the loan products in their portfolio and needs to understand how their product roadmaps meets corporate strategic objectives including consumer and client impact, credit risk management, securities performance and the economics of the company. They work with individual product managers to ensure alignment to Freddie’s objectives and that each product has what it needs, from a resource and people perspective, to reach the established goals.

Our Impact:

Our team has overall responsibility for single family offerings affecting or provided to mortgage borrowers. The team leads this strategy for acquisitions through the ideation, design, and implementation of sustainable and scalable mortgage loan products that meet borrower needs and are consumable through our lenders and partners. We are responsible for:

  • Portfolio growth funnel and go-to-market strategy.
  • We will have an essential partnership with the Digital Experience organization to implement our mortgage loan products. The Digital Experience team leads enablement efforts for lenders and partners to bring the products from borrowers to lenders to us.
  • Economic success of the products
  • Product and organizational alignment and unifying key stakeholders: Credit, Risk Management, Seller Engagement, Mission, Pricing, Portfolio Management, Servicing and Capital Markets.

Your Impact:

  • Drive consumer impact, performance, execution, and client satisfaction
  • Prioritizes and coordinates features with key internal stakeholders (Mission and Seller Engagement, Credit, Pricing, Servicing, Securitization) and resources across the product team to deliver Freddie Mac’s Product
  • Lead organization to successfully consult and deliver products and solutions across our clients and workstreams that expand borrower access to financing for sustainable homeownership
  • Anticipate trends and changing needs among consumers (e.g. demographics, economy, housing supply, etc.), clients and industries at large (e.g. digital, technology) to build and drive a strong delivery strategy that bridges financials, technology, and borrower needs.
  • Drive key business metrics including consumer impact, revenue growth, client satisfaction, and gross margin, while contributing to the definition of Product Management’s efficacy metrics to assess health and improve the success of our portfolio
  • Grow the skills and capabilities of our Product Management department—responsible for managing and executing successful client and other stakeholder engagements, identifying current and future needs, and building long-term partnerships that benefit the borrower and Freddie Mac.
  • Manage direct reports, provide guidance, undertake performance management of direct reports and identify training and development needs
  • Engage with clients and market-facing teams to maintain ongoing and clear visibility across Freddie Mac’s portfolio, identifying opportunities to coach, increase value creation, and manage delivery risks
  • Work across functional teams to continuously assess and optimize existing impact, delivery, resourcing, capabilities, and capacity, while pushing innovation, new offerings, and delivery models. Collaborates with other Lines of Business & Stakeholders to develop sustainable and effective solutions.
  • Contribute thought leadership among Freddie Mac partners (lenders and partners), and industry at large
  • Drive modern Product Management processes across the organization
  • Communicate the current state and future state of the products & services accurately and clearly to all stakeholders
  • Support a clear Customer Experience Strategy and market-leading innovative Product Strategy and Roadmap
  • Develop individual product managers and provide leadership within the team and across the ecosystem of the organization
  • Ensure consistency across individual product roadmaps considering what is best for our clients and business in the long term based on clear decision criteria
  • Manage a team of product managers across the full breath of each product, and empower them to drive and deliver excellence in their respective features
  • Carry out research on the broad market to both understand developing trends and opportunities and potential threats to the effectiveness of existing products

Qualifications:

  • College Degree or equivalent experience; advanced studies/degree preferred
  • 15+ related experience and 8+ years management experience.
  • Experience providing leadership to cross-functional teams to build and deliver custom products
  • Has successfully managed a diverse portfolio of external clients/stakeholders with delivery accountability
  • Experience leading and coaching product management leadership
  • Experience working to improve affordable products such as offerings designed for First-Time Homebuyers, CRA strategies and other underserved markets
  • Can mentor and guide others through client and product management strategy and execution, balancing team members’ growth while mitigating risk
  • Strong talent management including hiring, performance management, and leadership development
  • Substantial market experience and a demonstrated track record of success and increased responsibilities
