About the role:
As the Liferay Practice Owner for Base22, you will be responsible for aligning all consultants working on this specific platform and ensuring all follow the same best practices, guidelines, and quality assurance protocols. You will also be responsible for learning about new features or versions to plan training, and certifications, create POCs and support the sales team. You will work closely with Liferay sales teams, technical support teams, and product teams. You will review and approve technical designs and participate as a technical lead in client or internal projects.
The role is a combination of customer-facing and internal management tasks, working on the delivery of Liferay projects and working to manage and improve the practice inside Base22.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing and growing the Liferay practice in Base22.
- Perform a senior technical role, guiding Consultants and client personnel on best practices.
- Perform a technical lead role, leading and managing Base22 teams on customer projects.
- Coach more junior consultants in the company’s delivery approach and standards.
- Practice leadership tasks include determining technical direction, professional development planning (including required certifications), risk identification/mitigation and facilitating team learning events.
- Responsible for defining guidelines, best practices, standards, and KPIs to work on the Liferay platform and to make sure teams are following them.
- Support sales and customers for technical expertise and presentations (conferences and individual).
- Define POC projects and programs to be demonstrated/developed to drive innovation and sales.
- Consult with customers to determine an appropriate solution based on requirements and help prepare proposals and estimates.
- Lead solution designs, describing how Liferay fits into the rest of the architecture.
- Review and approve technical designs created by other technical leads.
- Collaborate with other practice leads.
- Create functional designs, high-level designs, and low-level designs as appropriate.
- Learn and keep up to date with Liferay features and versions.
- Support testing and deployment of the solutions.
- Support design and execution of data migration activities.
- Provide project leadership and delivery through all phases of delivering a solution.
- Keep onboarding/training for new hires up to date.
- Support in the interview process for the new developers.
Required skills:
- Experience as a Technical Lead implementing large-scale Liferay projects from start to finish in a consulting firm in Liferay 7.x and Liferay Experience Cloud
- Experience setting up, configuring, and managing environments and Liferay platform.
- Experience in Portal development and back-end system integrations with Liferay DXP, DXP Cloud, Commerce, Analytics Cloud, and Custom portlets in Liferay's latest releases
- Experience in full-stack development and J2EE technology (Java 8+)
- Experience in Liferay DXP APIs and Framework.
- Experience developing portlets, custom themes, and Liferay features such as fragments, assets publishers, assets libraries, display pages templates, structures and categories, assets display templates, groovy, and content templates.
- Experience implementing logging, usage metrics, audit trail, and usage analytics components
- Proven Experience with CI/CD practices.
- Strong experience in UI componentization, as well as UI development tools and modern web frameworks (headless CMS).
- Extensive exposure to portal security configurations & SAML integrations.
- Hands-on experience with portlets and Liferay web services implementation
- Experience troubleshooting, identifying, and fixing performance problems in the platform.
- Experience designing and estimating full solutions using the Liferay platform.
- Capable of explaining technical solutions to both technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience interacting with clients to present solutions, and technical designs and to gather requirements/feedback about the proposed solution.
- Experience managing teams
- Big picture and critical thinking. Ability to understand new concepts and features, analyze them and identify opportunities to implement in Base22.
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).
- Curious, always looking for opportunities to learn and share knowledge.
- Team player, able to interact with technical team members as well as non-technical.
- Able to manage time, priorities, and dependencies between several projects and for different
stakeholders.
- Liferay certification(s) is a plus.
- Desirable experience working/using other CMS like: HCL XD, Acquia CMS (Drupal), SharePoint.
