Lifeguard and Swim Instructor (Part-Time)
Job description
Description: Lifeguard events, programs and activities with responsibility, safety and genuine concern for
swimmers and participants. As a Swim Instructor this person is responsible for assisting with the
maintenance, operation and implementation of all of the Club’s Aquatics programs including lessons,
lifeguard training and swim team
Job Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of principles related to development of youth between 4 and 18 years
of age.
- Strong group leadership skills and an understanding of group dynamics.
- Strong communication skills both oral and written are required.
- Must be currently lifeguard certified.
- Passion/background in swimming is preferred.
- Knowledge of pool systems, tools and water treatment a plus.
- Conduct fun and meaningful swim lessons for all age levels.
Job Responsibilities
- Mandatory CPR, lifeguard and First Aid Certifications
- Teach proper swim technique to all levels
- Ensure fun and safe learning environment
- Assists with the delivery of Aquatics Programs and services for youth and adults including, but not limited
to; swim lessons, lifeguard classes and open swim. Develops and fosters a positive climate for youth
development, ensuring that members abide by pool rules.
- Ensures that all swimmers adhere to all health and safety policies and practices
- Supervise locker rooms, exercise area, equipment and main pool area and coordinating with other
program staff when needed.
- Work with staff to develop and execute new programs to drive membership, revenue and to enhance
quality of aquatic offerings.
- Compiles weekly attendance and submits data for all activities. Implements plans to improve participation
and quality as necessary.
- Assists the Aquatics Director to develop and execute new programs to drive membership, revenue and to
enhance quality of aquatics offerings.
- Works with the Aquatics Director to ensure all maintenance, including preventative maintenance, of the
pool and related mechanical systems, i.e. pumps, dehumidification system, chlorine systems, is
current. Maintains an inventory of all supplies and equipment in the aquatics area, updated bi-
annually. Ensures that program areas & equipment are clean, well-maintained and adheres to all
Department of Health guidelines.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
Sitting, standing, active up and down within the pool area. Must be a strong swimmer.
Terms of Employment:
Part time hours based on schedule and need of staffing. Hourly rate of pay 15- 20/Hr. based on
experience and qualifications. Terms of employment will be agreed upon hiring of position.
