Mary Ryder Home, part of Provident Behavioral Health, is a nonprofit residential care facility that has been serving low-income senior women in Saint Louis for over 90 years. We were founded on the belief that everyone deserves a comfortable, caring place to live later in life, regardless of their financial situation.
We are looking for Level One Medical Aides who have a caring heart, integrity, and an inner sense of responsibility to ensure that the job is done well.
What you’ll do:
- Ensure door/telephones are answered in a professional and timely manner, document as necessary
- Ensure breaks and lunch are staggered to ensure that both the phone and doors are being answered
- Review Daily Log Sheets (with relieving shift)
- Make hourly rounds
- Dispense and chart medications as ordered, including insulin
- Chart and notify Doctor of behavior changes (including falls, injuries, etc.)
- Ensure the welfare of all Residents before leaving (and check-in with relieving shift)
- Ensure a clean and clutter-free desk and countertops
- Empty the trash can at shift's end, or more often if needed. And follow proper procedures by taking trash to the dumpster so as not to mix the trash with the kitchen
- Fill pitcher with ice for the next shift
- Clearly and thoroughly chart everything relative to patient care, behaviors, and family behaviors
- (Who, What, When, Where) must be included every time you document a situation involving a Resident, a Resident to Resident situation, or family interactions
- Chart on Personal Care Sheets
- Chart in Nurses Notes when necessary. For example, a change occurs in resident behavior or a medical issue arises
- Complete Daily Log Sheets (always remaining aware of census number)
- Document administered medication on mar
- Log and be mindful of refrigerator temperatures
- Chart in nurses notes Physician Orders (P.O.) received from Doctor
- Properly document medication changes in Nurses Notes and on P.O.
- Chart in Hospital log when sending a Resident to the hospital and when Resident returns from Hospital
An important item to note: If there is a situation that warrants the assistance of additional staff, it is the understanding that all employees are required to aid the department in need. This could include things such as answering the phone, clearing areas, calming residents, calling for help, etc.
What we need you to have:
- L1MA or CMT license or certification
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- One year of nursing experience
- Understanding of the Seven Rights of Medication Administration
