Job Title: Legal Summer Clerk
Job Code: INT007

Job Summary:
During the 10-week clerkship, the successful candidate will be an active member of the Legal Department working alongside legal professionals and tasked with legal work overseen by attorneys.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
  • Draft memoranda & other correspondence on legal and regulatory matters
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, mediations, hearings and trials
  • Respond to subpoenas and discovery requests
  • Shadow on-site inspections and investigations
  • Participate in negotiations
  • Evaluate legal issues and collaborate with senior counsel on contract, real property and litigation matters
  • Research & summarize laws and cases

Required Qualifications for Position
  • Currently enrolled first-year law student pursuing a J.D. from an ABA accredited law school
  • Completed Torts, Contracts, Property, Legal Research and Legal Writing classes
  • Ability to learn new concepts quickly
  • Ability to work independently, organize, prioritize and manage deadlines
  • Excellent research, oral and written communications and analytical skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across diverse internal legal and business groups
  • Positive and professional attitude, including dependability, timeliness, and good judgment

  • Remote and virtual candidates will be considered, with a preference given to candidates who can be at our Columbus, OH or Merrillville, IN offices in-person at least part-time
