Job Title: Legal Summer Clerk
Job Code: INT007
Job Summary:
During the 10-week clerkship, the successful candidate will be an active member of the Legal Department working alongside legal professionals and tasked with legal work overseen by attorneys.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Draft memoranda & other correspondence on legal and regulatory matters

Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, mediations, hearings and trials

Respond to subpoenas and discovery requests

Shadow on-site inspections and investigations
-
Participate in negotiations
-
Evaluate legal issues and collaborate with senior counsel on contract, real property and litigation matters

Research & summarize laws and cases
Required Qualifications for Position
-
Currently enrolled first-year law student pursuing a J.D. from an ABA accredited law school

Completed Torts, Contracts, Property, Legal Research and Legal Writing classes

Ability to learn new concepts quickly

Ability to work independently, organize, prioritize and manage deadlines

Excellent research, oral and written communications and analytical skills

Ability to collaborate effectively across diverse internal legal and business groups
-
Positive and professional attitude, including dependability, timeliness, and good judgment
-

Available to work full time (40 hours per week)

Remote and virtual candidates will be considered, with a preference given to candidates who can be at our Columbus, OH or Merrillville, IN offices in-person at least part-time
