Job description

A day in the life of a Learning and Development Specialist at Fox may include:

  • Developing, designing, implementing and maintaining development solutions for new and existing associates.
  • Employing current adult education concepts and learning approaches in curriculum design, including experiential teaching techniques, accelerated learning principles, interactive delivery methods and variations in presentation of learning materials.
  • Training efficiencies with technical skills in an understandable and user-friendly manner for new associates, as well as refresher training for existing associates, for key software programs, tools, and services.
  • Utilizing the results of associate engagement surveys to recognize the needs to the workforce and plan for future deliverables.
  • Regularly investigating best practices of external training from travel suppliers, industry associations, and other third-party providers in order to make recommendations or modifications for program enhancements.
  • Partnering and collaborating with department subject matter experts and leaders across Fox to:
    • Determine training needs and desired learning outcomes.
    • Ensure content is applicable and meeting current processes/procedures, etc.
    • Develop a training path based on a clear understanding of “next steps” in phased utilization of any new software or skills.
    • Monitor, coach, and mentor the performance of associates.
    • Create and maintain training materials that will attract and retain high quality associates.
  • Ensuring transference of learning through pre/post assessment, proficiency demonstrations, review of defined metrics, and/or feedback from course evaluation ratings.
  • Maintaining a favorable and collaborative working relationship with team members in all departments to foster an environment of trust and mutual respect. Driving standards and best practices whenever possible and effectively fostering a culture of engagement.
  • Enhancing the organization’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to adding value to job accomplishments.
  • Being innovative and recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of operations and services performed.
  • Other duties, projects and alternate assignments as determined by business need.

This opportunity might be for you if you have:

  • A bachelor's degree in Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related field (preferred).
  • At least 5 years of previous experience in a training and development role; proven ability to train one-on-one and with groups; in person and virtually, as well as creating trainign programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify learner needs, analyze and logically organize complex information and transform that into professionally designed, engaging and effective training materials.
  • Strong teaching, training and communication skills with the ability to guide others toward individual professional growth and development.
  • Proven experience in learning and teaching on technology-based programs and systems.
  • The ability to act as a positive agent of change and consistently demonstrate the ability to adapt to changes in the work environment; manage competing tasks and demands; and deal with frequent changes, delays and unexpected events.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Prior experience in the travel industry (preferred).
