Lead US I-9 Program Specialist
Work you'll do
The I-9 Program Lead Specialist is responsible for facilitating the end-to-end I-9 reverification process for foreign nationals to ensure internal and regulatory compliance, and will also supervise a team of I-9 Program Specialists in the execution of the same. This role will involve the application of immigration and program knowledge to execute the I-9 reverification process, ensure internal and regulatory compliance, and will communicate with key Talent stakeholders. This role will both perform and supervise the execution of these processes.
The team
The Immigration Programs & Strategy Team is part of the Talent Immigration organization of Deloitte Services LP. This team is responsible for supporting the needs of our foreign national practitioners across all businesses. This includes the development and delivery of strategic immigration programs, as well as strategic projects to enhance the immigration experience of our foreign national practitioners.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $71,425-$146,670.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.

- Oversee the workload of a small team of I-9 Specialists in the US and USI, including mentoring, ensuring a high quality of work, and ensuring that workloads are distributed appropriately given volume. Manage PTO and back-up coverage for team. Help resolve issues from team as they arise and escalate as necessary to Internal Programs Manager
- Support end-to-end processes related to the physical and/or virtual I-9 employment verification of foreign nationals (e.g., I-9 reverification for US foreign nationals, I-9 completion for USI and Canada assignees), immigration-driven leaves, and other internal immigration programs that may arise, to ensure internal and regulatory compliance
- Serve as escalation POC for the applicable I-9 programs/processes, assist in identifying risks, and escalate case and programmatic issues to Internal Programs Manager and immigration leadership. Serve as liaison for Leaves, Separations, ELE I-9 team, Global Mobility for USI to US assignees
- Develop communications campaigns, such as Town Halls and written messages, to Talent and employee stakeholders to inform and educate on I-9 programs, partnering with other applicable Talent areas such as ELE
- Identify and recommend continuous improvement of programs, processes, and services relating to I-9s and immigration-driven leaves
- Drive the development of recommendations to improve cost effectiveness, process efficiency, and employee experience within the applicable I-9 programs, in collaboration with the Internal Programs Manager and Immigration leadership
- Create and maintain I-9 program documentation (SOPs, process maps, knowledge articles)
- Lead and conduct spot checks and audits of I-9s completed by team members and other Talent teams (e.g. Workplace Experience), identify trends, and prepare and analyze metrics
- Develop and lead/conduct training of I-9 Specialists (US and USI) and Workplace Experience

Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's Degree and at least 3 years of related experience
- Ability to supervise teams in a virtual workplace environment across U.S. and India
- Strong understanding of I-9 compliance concepts
- Basic understanding of employment-based immigration processes
- Strong written communication skills and ability to translate complex legal concepts into layman's terms
- Advanced competency in core professional skills, especially attention to detail, responsiveness, follow-through, flexibility, initiative, and tact
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks appropriately
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with large teams
- Ability to manage and resolve complex and sensitive situations while managing confidential information appropriately and professionally
- Strong critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills
- Strong conflict resolution skills, including the ability to negotiate and influence others
- Advanced capabilities with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
