Assignment:

The Lead will plan and implement an effective developmentally appropriate program based on a research-based, high quality curriculum that meets the needs of the children.

Lead Staff Person Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the daily planning and implementation of curriculum to meet the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs of each child
• Create an environment with well-established routines and smooth transitions
• Guarantee a safe environment by providing constant supervision, appropriate arrangement of space and accurate maintenance of equipment
• Develop a calm, pleasant environment in the classroom in which children and families feel comfortable and secure
• Responsible for attendance records, sign-in/sign-out, accident reports and other required record keeping
• Participate in ongoing in-service training and collaboration as required
• Assist with all procedures and activities relating to maintaining high standards and compliance for the program
• Develop a strong home to school relationship through effective communication
• Adhere to all employment regulations as outlined in NEOLA policies for Midland Public Schools

Job Qualifications:

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an early childhood endorsement (ZA/ZS) or a bachelor’s degree in child development or early childhood education with specialization in preschool teaching
• Must be certified or able to certify in First Aid and CPR
• Criminal Background and Central Registry check is required for employment
