Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Land Representative through Monday, 11/14/2022 at 11:59 PM CST.

Land Representative is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of Land Management duties for oil & gas pipelines & facilities associated with the Gulf Coast Region (Texas/Louisiana/Mississippi/Offshore Gulf of Mexico). This position will be based on Covington, LA or Houston, TX.

Responsibilities include acquiring surface rights (surface leases, ROW/easements, water rights, purchase of fee property, etc.), settling surface damages, negotiating, and drafting traditional and complex land use agreements, researching courthouse and Land records, working with gov't officials, and clearing title/performing curative work for new pipelines and existing infrastructure. Working knowledge of all Land systems including QLS, Thought Trace and QGIS. Provide competent Land and business guidance to asset teams, key stakeholders, and management. Provide work direction to contract land agents and outside legal counsel. Ability to build strong internal and external relationships.

Responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Establishes and maintains good relationships with surface owners and local governmental officials and agencies.

  • Negotiate terms and drafts agreements, including surface use agreements, pipeline rights of way and easements, operating agreement, and other Land/Legal/Business agreements. Settle surface damages and ensures necessary access to company assets.

  • Thorough understanding of surface use agreements, easements, pipeline ROWs, oil & gas contracts, surface and mineral titles, and gov't laws/regulations related to oil & gas operations.

  • Leads efforts to effectively communicate and persuasively negotiate with private property owners, developers, and public agencies to secure necessary rights to protect Chevron’s License to operate.

  • Develops alternatives and options on complex Land/Legal/Business problems and recommends appropriate strategies and solutions to Management.

  • Manages contractors working on multiple projects.

  • Knowledge of Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) and Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) and its permitting processes.

  • Networks with other Chevron business units on regional land issues.

  • Provide support and counsel during due diligence, acquisition, and divestment of properties within asset portfolio

  • Knowledge of laws, regulations and condemnation rights impacting Texas/Louisiana/Mississippi.

  • Proactively engage with government agencies and local communities to strengthen relationship and align with project permitting and issues.

  • Research market valuations of property to be acquired or divested.

  • Participate on cross-functional team(s) to deliver results aligned with Chevron's objectives

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of industry land related experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Excellent verbal/written communication, organization, and time management skills.

  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, and project management skills.

  • Possess strong negotiation and drafting skills; as well as experience recognizing, analyzing, and resolving difficult negotiating situations.

  • Outstanding team player with strong interpersonal skills to effectively work within a multi-disciplinary group to achieve project related goals.

  • Creative, outside the box thinker – solutions oriented.

  • Ability to build and influence both internal and external relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Quorum Land Systems (QLS) and Quorum Geographic Information Systems (QGIS) experience

  • Petroleum Land Management, Energy Management, Energy Commerce, Business, or an advanced degree in Law (J.D.) or MBA from accredited institutions

  • Thorough understanding of land permitting activities on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS)
