Job description

Operates various equipment, including dump truck, street saw, shovels, jack hammer, pipe saw, and related attachments in effecting the general maintenance and repair of water and sewer lines. Hauls, dumps, and shovels crushed stone, sand, dirt, and asphalt from trucks using appropriate equipment. Digs ditches, repairs and/or replaces pipes, refills ditches, patches roads, sidewalks, and/or soil, and cleans work site as needed. Regularly checks department vehicles and equipment to ensure proper fluid levels and mechanical functioning. Ensures appropriate equipment and machinery is available at the work site. Performs duties of Water Lineman as needed. Performs related duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) issued by an accredited high school; or combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position. One year of experience working with water, sewer, and/or storm water, preferred.

  • OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle. Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (Class B CDL with air brakes) within probationary period. Current Class B CDL or Class A CDL holders preferred.
  • Please note that in accordance with federal regulations, the selected candidate must successfully pass a Department of Transportation drug screen prior to employment.

    TRAINING/SKILLS
  • Working knowledge of and skill in the operation of department vehicles and related equipment. Basic knowledge of the mechanics of light and heavy equipment and ability to perform minor maintenance and repairs. Working knowledge of safety precautions for working in or around department vehicles and equipment, including ability to operate equipment in confined areas. Ability to work overtime as instructed.

    Salary: $19.01 - $20.05

    Hours: 7:00am - 3:00pm, Monday - Friday
