We currently have an opportunity to join our team of talented and diverse Faculty and Staff as a Laboratory Technician/Welding.

Required Qualifications: High School Diploma with vocational program certificate with emphasis in Welding, or closely related field.

Desired Qualifications: An associate degree is preferred.

This is a part time (20 hours per week), non-exempt position with a minimum hourly rate of 14.57 per hour.

This position is not eligible for benefits.

Working Hours: Monday through Thursday 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm

Key Responsibilities:

• Assists Instructor in Welding labs to oversee students in operation of lab equipment in compliance with all safety procedures, and College rules and guidelines.
• Prepares/sets up lab for classes; includes cutting material, setting up shop equipment, and maintaining cutting tool inventory.
• Maintain equipment maintenance records for area of responsibility; cleans and check lab equipment periodically to ensure optimal functioning.
• Follow and carry out assignments given by the department Assistant Chair.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be able to relate and work with faculty and students individually and in groups; exercise good judgment and communicate effectively both orally and written; have strong organizational skills and ability to work in multi-task environments and maintain positive customer relations. Ability to supervise students in a lab environment; and have welding knowledge and skills. Demonstrate tool functions and safety procedures as well as maintain, repair and handle tools and tool supplies.
