- Obtain specimens from patients for laboratory procedures.
- Instructs patients and other personnel on the proper procedure for specimen collection, labels, storage documentation, billing, and transport requirements.
- Retrieves and delivers documents, supplies, equipment, and specimens for clients and laboratory.
- Processes specimens for analysis, storage and reference lab testing
Education
- High school education or equivalent.
- Requires some knowledge of medical terminology.
Experience
- 3 months phlebotomy experience, or a phlebotomy certificate with 32 hours of clinical rotation, or 6 months experience in a medical field providing patient care which includes drawing blood or blood processing, or current MLT student in clinical rotations, or one or more college level courses in a biological science
(Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience).
Licensure/Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.
Compensation/Benefits
- $14.29-$23.24/hr depending on previous work experience
- Position qualifies for $2.00/hr AM rounds shift differential
