Position Summary


Responsible for the oversight and execution of contracting strategy for ancillary and medical provider agreements across Kroger Health representing up to $4B in revenue per year. Build strategic relationships, share Kroger's value proposition and value in the healthcare sector, provide account and client management services as needed. Negotiate contracts, reviewing rates, financial implications, and language. Work with Legal and Compliance team to identify risk and areas for improvement in contract language. Work with Finance to share contract value and changes in value over time. Communicate with Sales and peers on contracting strategy, wins, and losses. Essential Job Functions

  • Manage relationships with external partners and their clients; work collaboratively with Kroger Health services (i.e., retail, specialty, mail order, clinic) to implement service to clients
  • Serve as an escalation point and liaison for all client issues/matters
  • Oversee Medical and Ancillary Provider Contract Managers setting direction and expectations to maximize relationships
  • Devise strategic plans to achieve Kroger Health's EBITDA and revenue targets with Medical and Ancillary Provider Agreements
  • Grow identical sales by identifying up-sell opportunities and expanded client services
  • Facilitate ongoing negotiations of existing medical contracts to improve profitability and the negotiation of new contracts
  • Retain key accounts and ensure customer satisfaction through excellent customer service
  • Assist with Request for Proposal (RFP) completion for the healthcare team
  • Drive engagement with services to both members and clients
  • Improve the client experience by offering expanded services and creating additional value propositions
  • Evaluate current and potential contracts to maximize pharmacy sales and maintain gross profits
  • Remove any barriers (e.g., systems, ordering, communication) to successful contract implementation
  • Collaborate with Kroger Legal department on conducting research and contract approval as necessary
  • Keep current on regulatory activity related to medical contracting and monitoring programs for compliance
  • Travel independently to facilities and client locations as needed to foster successful relationships both internal and external

Minimum Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of experience in account management in healthcare related field
  • Any business analyst experience; specialty pharmacy, PBM or retail clinic experience preferred
  • 5+ years of payor contracting experience
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information
  • Excellent administrative, communication, and organizational skill with high attention to detail
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to influence others
  • Strong understanding of industry/technical terms and processes
