Job Description

Abbott House is seeking a Kinship Specialist to join the FDU team. In this role you will assist the foster care placement kinship function of the organization.

We operate programs in the New York Metropolitan area and Hudson Valley.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review connections progress notes, genograms, interview children (if age appropriate), birth parents, other family members, foster parents, case planners, supervisors, child protective specialists (CPS), CPS supervisors, teachers, guidance counselors, therapists and any other know person the child and family might be connected to.
  • Review Case Planner and CPS hard copy case records.
  • Interview identified resources with the goal of securing a safe placement with a resource that will be in the child's best interest.
  • Use social media and search engines such as Face Book, Google Search, Spokeo, LexisNexis and Family Tree Now to obtain contact information as well as to identify additional potential kinship resources.

About You

You are the ideal candidate if you are passionate about the social services field and empowering underserved communities. Being detail oriented, organized, driven, flexible and responsive are critical attributes to be successful in this role.

  • You have at least a Bachelor’s degree
  • You have at least 2 years of child welfare experience
  • You have excellent interpersonal and writing skills.
  • You are resourceful and analytical

Schedule:

Mon-Fri 9 AM to 5PM

Salary: $45,000 - $50,000 Annually
