Bay Harbor Yacht Club, a private club located near Petoskey, MI, provides breathtaking views and exceptional service for both guests and members year-round. BHYC boasts several exquisite restaurants, multiple recreational outlets, and large event spaces, all situated on the Bay Harbor marina. We recently completed a multi-million dollar renovation which included expanded summer seasonal dining, a new Grille Room, State of the Art Fitness Center, Aquatics Center and a Relaxation Spa!
The Kid’s Club Coordinator position is a great opportunity for candidates who are passionate about working with children and creating engaging and educational programs year-round. This position also helps lead the BHYC Kid’s Camp in the summer.
During the Winter season, this position:
- Monitors children during the afternoon babysitting hours offered
- Runs winter kid’s activities and events (holiday week, winter sports park, etc.)
- Works with Director of Jr. Programming to plan summer BHYC Kid’s Camp including weekly schedule of activities and field trips
- Ensure that program areas are kept clean and presentable for use
- Assists with administrative duties
During the Summer season, this position:
- Works with Director of Jr. Programming to run and facilitate Junior Camp from mid-June to mid-August
- Assist with supervising and scheduling camp counselors
- Assists with administrative duties pertaining to Junior Camp

Job Summary:
The Kid’s Club Coordinator position is a working hourly position responsible for managing the babysitting program and assisting with the Junior Camp during the summer. The Junior Camp program provides high quality educational and recreational experiences for participants that focus on BHYC core values.
Job Duties:
- Greet and interact with members and children
- Lead a variety of small and large group activities each week, including but not limited to crafts, outdoor recreation sports, group outings, teamed relays, teambuilding games, songs, etc.
- Monitors children during the afternoon babysitting hours offered
- Runs winter kid’s activities and events (holiday week, winter sports park, etc.)
- Works with Director of Jr. Programming to plan summer BHYC Junior Camp, including weekly schedule of activities and field trips
- Assist with supervising and scheduling camp counselors
- Attend field trips with children and campers
- Attend to children’s basic needs, variable by age
- Maintain accurate program records including incident reports, medical release forms and daily attendance, daily log entries.
- Assist in set-up and tear down of all children’s programs
- Ensure that Kid’s Club room and program areas are kept clean and presentable for use
- Collect Lost and Found items as necessary and report to management
- Be knowledgeable and understand all safety procedures associated with camp program. Camp counselors are responsible for the safety of the campers while on the program.
- Communicate with other departments and/or supervisors/managers on any member issues
- Assists members and guests with requests and concerns
- Assist with administrative duties, including answering phones, making reservations, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience:
- 1-2 years’ experience in recreational or camp field or related areas preferred
- High School Diploma preferred
- Upon hire, successful completion of BHYC provided First Aid and CPR certifications required
Job Competencies:
- Ability to work with children
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with limited direct supervision
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize work activities
- Strong interpersonal skills required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Working Conditions:
Work will generally be performed in both indoor and outdoor environments. Outdoor temperatures can range from 50F to 90F during summer months, and there will be exposure to loud noises and sustained elements. It is recommended to bring a swimsuit, tennis shoes and extra outfit in case of change of plans. You will be required to get into pool or lake with Jr Campers. Working schedule is generally 40 hours per week, with some holidays, weekends and travel required. Must have the ability to lift up to 30 lbs. as required. Some extensive standing, walking, lifting, pushing and pulling movements are required.
