Kennel Attendant
Job Duties
The kennel attendant reports to the clinic manager and is responsible for the daily care of our dogs and daily cleaning around the clinic. This is a crucial role in our organization as you support the daily functioning of the clinic and help us care for animals in-house awaiting foster homes.
Below is a list of the daily tasks you may be asked to perform in this position:
- Cleaning and sanitizing suites of dogs staying at the clinic
- Administer daily medications for dogs. Must be comfortable giving all types of medications (oral, topical, and ophthalmic)
- Letting dogs out to one of our designated side yards for exercise, playtime, and potty breaks
- Daily cleaning of the clinic including sweeping, mopping, and laundry
- Daily sanitizing of our two side yards
- Various other tasks to help support the functioning of the veterinary clinic
Requirements
- Previous animal care experience is preferred but not necessary
- Weekend and holiday availability
- This is a part-time position and shifts are anywhere from 1-3 hours long dependent upon how many dogs are staying in the clinic
- There are two daily shifts: in the mornings from 7:00-9:00 AM and in the evenings from 5:30-7:30 PM
- We currently have a big need for our AM shift and Friday-Sunday shift coverage
About Us
Our mission is to be a resource and advocate for senior dogs and senior people on California’s Central Coast. We focus on helping dogs and people from Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito counties. We find loving homes for dogs whose guardians can no longer care for them and for senior dogs in shelters. We also provide volunteer and financial assistance so seniors can keep their pets with them as long as possible. In addition, we make pre-arrangements to take in dogs should their guardians become unable to care for them.
