The Opportunity (JRCA):
We need your motivation and engagement to join our team as a Juvenile Rehabilitation Counselor Assistant at Oakridge Community Facility, a Juvenile Rehabilitation (JR) Minimum Security residential program that serves adjudicated youth. These positions support juvenile counseling services, working towards the common goal of disrupting the school to prison pipeline. You will assist our counselors to provide comprehensive case management, transition and reentry planning, counseling, and treatment services. You will supervise an assigned caseload of youth for compliance with program and treatment plan requirements, and prepare youth and their families for re-entry back into the community. A Bachelor's degree and one year of experience in this job class, or a combination of education/experience that totals at least six years, will prepare you for promotion into Juvenile Rehabilitation Residential Counselor jobs.
Some of what you will do:
- Manage a caseload of one to two youths under close supervision
- Assist in the development and implementation of treatment and Reentry plans
- Monitor and supervise youth and visitors in a secure treatment milieu
- Provide individual and group counseling; assist in facilitating groups
- Identify and prioritize treatment needs and formulate appropriate treatment plans
- Participate in multi-disciplinary case staffing
- Model pro-social adaptive behavior; supervise and maintain order among youth in a group setting
- Perform routine security duties including perimeter, grounds and building security checks, room searches

H.S Diploma or GED
Four years of experience in casework, counseling, probation and parole, social services, planning, directing, or facilitating youth group activities, or related experience.
In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:
- Demonstrated understanding of adolescent development and juvenile rehabilitation practices and principles; experience providing cognitive/behavioral therapeutic interventions.
- Demonstrated competency in relating to clients from diverse backgrounds and cultural groups.
- Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends, and influences related to juvenile delinquency.
