Job Summary

This position provides clerical and administrative support for the Court Administrator and Presiding Judge, serving as courtroom clerk and juvenile case manager. This position will assist the court in administering the court’s juvenile docket and supervising the orders in assigned juvenile cases. Reports information or recommendations relevant to assisting the judge in making decisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists in the courtroom during arraignments, pretrial and special hearings
• Schedules court dates, prepares court documents and monitors sentencing compliance
• Conducts juvenile intake interviews, sends summons notices, attends juvenile dockets, and prepares sentencing recommendations to the judge
• Researches and evaluates programs designed to increase compliance and decrease recidivism; report statistics to the Judge and Court Administrator
• Prepares recommendations and referrals to state mandated programs and community resources by developing creative alternatives to sentencing that will increase awareness, decrease delinquent behavior, and reducing repeat offenders.
• Monitors the Teen Court Program productivity, coordinates teen court activity, and works extended hours for teen court trials
• Functions as liaison with the area school officials, community service providers, charitable organizations and alternative sentencing providers.
• Performs a wide variety of specialized clerical duties in support of the municipal court
• Stays current of legislature and court procedures and training related to court duties, to ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, primarily as it relates to juvenile/minor offenders.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Two years of experience working within a court system or related area

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience as a juvenile case manager or related field
• Bilingual in English & Spanish
