SUMMARY

The Job Coach works closely with Employment Specialist and Program Managers in supporting individuals to secure job(s) and community opportunities that meet his/her interests. He/she will exhibit the necessary knowledge to assist individuals accomplish their work-related goals. The Job Coach is responsible for providing on site trainings that focus on developing employment related skills.

M-F 7:30-3:30 flex hours some nights and weekends as needed.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES COMMON TO THIS JOB DESCRIPTION

General

  • Maintains the confidentiality of all information about the individual.*

Department

  • Works with individual/s and Department staff to determine job interests and work-related goals of the person.
  • Works with individuals, families Department staff, other Centers staff, DDS, Service Coordinator, and community employers to determine and secure the supports necessary for the person to work successfully in a job of his or her choice.
  • Attends or contributes to the ISP meetings of individuals for the development and evaluation of the person’s ISP.
  • Assures that individuals have the work materials necessary to perform job responsibilities.
  • Provide safe transportation using agency vehicles or personal vehicle if necessary
  • Supports individuals at the worksite to learn and perform the job successfully.
  • Supports individuals to learn the personal hygienic, social, interpersonal and behavioral skills necessary for successful employment.
  • Supports individuals to develop and maintain relationships, to use community resources, and to become an involved member of the community.
  • Comply with all work and volunteer sites expectations including the application process if required.
  • Assist Employers and Community Liaison to facilitate Job Performance Evaluation with Employer.
  • Conduct regular assessments to evaluate areas of success and areas of growth.
  • Works with employers and individuals to resolve conflicts/problems effectively and efficiently when necessary
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings when required.
  • Ability to flex schedule when required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • None

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCERelated Work Experience

  • Substantial experience providing direct services to people with disabilities.
  • Preference to persons with experience in supported and competitive employment.
  • Preference to persons who are bilingual.

Formal Education, Certification, Licensing

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Use of personal vehicle if necessary
  • Completion within one month of CPR, First Aid, training and certifications.
  • Completion within two months of health education and fire safety, ISP, Safety Care training and Medication Administration Certification.

Skills/Abilities/Competencies

  • Knowledge of the current philosophies, policies, procedures and practices of the delivery of supports and services to adults with developmental disabilities and their families.
  • Knowledge of techniques of adapting jobs and the work environment for persons with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software programs.
  • Ability to interact sensitively and effectively with persons with disabilities, families, and the public.
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relations with others, including persons from diverse ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to represent the Department, Division and Cardinal Cushing Centers, Inc. effectively to businesses and civic organizations.
  • Ability to work with employers to create and/or adapt jobs for persons with disabilities.
  • Ability to teach job skills effectively.
  • Perseverance in overcoming any challenges and barriers to employment and exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to implement Safety Care and all other trainings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to give written and oral instructions in a precise, understandable manner.
  • Ability to set priorities, goals and objectives and to evaluate their completion.
  • Ability to anticipate and analyze difficult situations and take corrective action to prevent future problems.
  • Ability to adjust to changing situations to meet emergency or changing organizational requirements.
  • Ability to accomplish work objectives where few precedents or guidelines are available.
  • Ability to travel for job-related purposes.
  • Ability to safely drive all company vehicles.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • May need to assist in lifting individuals and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • May need to assist in physical intervention with an individual.
  • May need to complete physical demands such as packing and lifting to demonstrate and teach skills.
  • May need to climb stairs.
  • Must have normal range of eye sight with or without corrective lenses, and have a normal range of hearing with or without corrective equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • May need to assist with the personal hygiene of individuals, including assistance in the bathroom.
  • May need to work under stringent time demands.
  • Adjust schedule to accommodate individuals job schedule

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.50 per hour
