The Janitor position is responsible for the dedicated and efficient and safe upkeep of the interior and exterior of a branch location. Seeks to maintain the locations’ premises in a neat and pleasant appearance. Makes it a point that the working environment is safe for all employees and visitors. - Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Empties trash cans in designated areas, cleans tunnel screens, and breaks down boxes; Cleans, sweeps, and, where necessary, mops, in restrooms and designated areas; Wipes down fans, walls, lights, and equipment in designated areas, as well as changes floor mats as necessary; Cleans outside the break area and lunch room, and moves empty barrels from soil dock to loading dock; Maintains safe and clean work environment, and observes best practices in all production activities; Works a schedule that is flexible to the Market Center demand.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to understand all required training, written, and verbal instructions; Working knowledge of basic math skills; Good verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Ability to meet attendance schedule; Work is based on a shift schedule, and may include weekends. Overtime required as needed.
- Working Environment/Safety Requirements:
Work is performed in a warehouse setting and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme heat and cold conditions as well as dust and noise. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions; Requires the ability to move, lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 25 lbs; Requires bending, reaching, pulling, and lifting; Requires the use of hands for grasping and other manipulations; Requires standing and walking for long periods of time.
Other detailed Janitor duties:
- Engage in general cleaning and upkeep of the interior of the branch.
- Emptying of trash
- Rest room cleaning and restocking
- Break room cleaning and restocking
- Safely operate equipment (for example: Vacuum cleaner, Buffer, and Small hand tools)
- Light duty repairs to the interior branch as directed
- Cleaning and maintenance of public areas of the branch.
- Engage in general cleaning and upkeep of the exterior of the branch.
- Emptying of trash
- Grounds maintenance – lawn moving – small areas or snow removal i.e. sidewalks
- Light duty repairs to the exterior of branch as directed
- Assists in maintaining adequate levels of supplies and inventory of (paper towels, rest room supplies) for employee use within the branch.
- Reports any needs for additional janitorial supplies or issues to supervisor.
- Aids other production employees and offers relief duty for production employees as needed.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school education or GED Preferred
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening
- Knowledge of basic principles of custodial operations and general equipment maintenance is preferred
