Information Technology is seeking a full-time temporary Training Developer/Internet Specialist for our IT Training Team. This position develops and conducts information technology training for college staff, promotes the use of technology and assists staff to make the best use of existing and emerging management tools, while also developing and maintains various IT web pages.

The scheduled shift is: Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm and primarily performs work activities remotely. The employee may be occasionally required to perform work onsite and to attend in-person meetings or events at a college physical location.


This role is temporary and is funded through April 20, 2023.

Experienced Technical Skill: Ability to learn new software and processes quickly and efficiently, while creating curriculum, documentation, and online videos/references for both technical and non-technical audiences. This position acts as a subject matter expert for a few pieces of software and business processes, which may require the ability to troubleshoot and consult with vendors.


Communication and Relationship Management Skills:
Ability to effectively understand diverse customer and technical requirements by engaging in active listening and asking the right questions. Needs to understand multiple end-user types and skill sets to craft engaging and informative course material. Develops partnerships throughout the college to determine the needs of the organization and ensure quality training in an efficient manner.


Online Training Content Creation and Editing Skills:
Proficiency in using online learning capturing software (Adobe CC Suite, Camtasia) and editing of short videos and audio to create engaging training materials. Ability to plan out training video production (storyboard, flowcharts, or other) with a focus on reusable content where possible. Extra Credit: Familiar with creating SCORM files to place in our LMS system (Cornerstone).


Technical Writing Skills:
Creating and editing technical, process, and end-user facing documentation is needed. Developing and adhering to standard practices for maintenance of documentation for end-users, business partners, and Information Technology staff is critical. Having an understanding of creating and maintaining technical writing style guides that include inclusivity and accessibility requirements is preferred.


Organizational Skills:
Good experience working with different audiences and familiar with modern web-design to ensure that the appropriate materials are distributed to the correct audience in an effective manner. The ability to create/organize a catalog of training materials and videos, along with templated documentation that will allow for efficiency and ease of use.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

  • Associate’s degree in a computer-related discipline, education or related field is required. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Two years of experience in programming, training or systems software and support; one of the two years experience must include the use of web development tools and/or languages such as HTML, JAVA or Perl.
  • Experience must also include creating documentation and performing technical end-user training in a complex technical environment and using instructional design concepts for computer-based training. Knowledge of: Adult learning techniques; database retrieval tools; web development tools and languages; instructional design concepts for computer-based training.
  • Ability to: Develop and present computer-based training to a diverse audience; consult with departments to analyze business processes and support technology needs; coordinate multiple projects concurrently and work with a minimum of supervision.

Starting Salary Expectations
The first two steps of the range are: $56,546 to $58,244 per year. Higher salary placement may be available based on qualifications, experience and internal equity.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Work environment is in an office or computer lab setting and includes typical computer-related noise levels and paper or equipment generated dust. Exposure to video display terminals occurs on a regular basis. Must provide own transportation for travel between campuses and off-site locations. Must constantly keep up with software and system upgrades in order to support end-users. Learned physical skill is required to perform keyboarding and use peripheral equipment. Occasional lifting of equipment or materials. Extended periods of sitting or standing to perform computer applications or conduct training.
