Roles & Responsibilities:


The following statements describe the principal functions of this job and its scope of responsibility but should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. The candidate for this position:
  • Maintain, modify, and implement new firewall policies, as well as managing multiple subnets
  • Supports, monitors, tests, and troubleshoots hardware and software problems pertaining to computer systems for ORD. Computers can be connected to a production network, isolated lab network, or stand-alone. Operating systems range from, Windows 10/11 desktop / laptop /HPC Linux clusters/ as well as support of local and network printers.
  • Schedules repairs, installs, and configures workstations with approved image and additional software as approved/required.
  • Installs after-market hardware to support user equipment functionality as needed.
  • Follows approved standard operating procedures and meets all service level agreements
  • Maintains and submits updates to asset management for all equipment maintained
  • Updates the ticket tracking system as required
  • Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the IT field

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
Mostly Office Environments – required to be in-office every day (ability to work remote on occasion) Substantial amounts of telephone and computer work Heavily Regulated Industries with strict adherence to procedures Flexibility to meet business deadlines and resolve critical issues by staying late or arriving early Typical 8-hour days plus lunch / 40-hour weeks / core (required) hours are 9AM to 4PM Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen
Desired Skills:
Strong networking skills and previous experience managing firewalls and switches Experience managing servers in a data center environment (Windows and Linux) Active Directory experience Office 365 Azure Administration experience Experience managing and maintaining high performance Linux computing systems Wants to work onsite in a highly technical environment
This is a professional and technical position responsible for network and server maintenance, desktop, laptop, printer installation, set-up, patch installation, software upgrade support, and troubleshooting /diagnosing reported end-user hardware and software problems. Employees in this classification are responsible for planning, evaluating and implementing approved system changes and upgrades and providing tiers 2 and 3 support for hardware and software problem resolution.

Required Skills:
Minimum AS or BS in IT-related field, or equivalent experience 5-10+ years of experience supporting IT support roles; multi-function experience is a plus Must be highly organized and capable of working across multiple different tasks (troubleshooting, new-computer setup, software installation, networking, policy management) Experience Microsoft Office 365 and Windows environments Help Desk Support management experience Highly detail oriented with strong ability to debug and troubleshoot issues Strong communication skills Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment Like to work in a fast paced, creative environment, and is a self-starter who takes initiative Enjoy people and dynamic teams with diverse experiences.
