Job Summary
Boston Children’s Hospital’s EHR system will be consolidated from two systems (Cerner and Epic) into a single one by Epic. Using Epic’s EHR software, the hospital will embrace an enhanced model of care centered on readily available health information. This 18-month implementation of a new, unified EHR platform is an enterprise initiative for the hospital that will further strengthen the care we provide to patients and families.

This IT Epic Analyst II will be responsible for:

• Serves as a team resource with a deepening knowledge of assigned operations, the related Epic application and relationships with other Epic products. Work typically requires an understanding of context and relationships between operations and Epic related systems in addition to understanding the basis for current configurations (i.e., historical decisions) in order to resolve moderately complex problems. Solutions typically involve changes to data, rules, and templates and often have large downstream implications.
• Engages end-users in operations to understand business needs (process, data and/or reporting) and the context for the current state. Clarifies and finalizes the scope of the request with the end-user/client. Conducts technology and operations analyses. Informs end users about the underlying data and guides them in the use of these reporting tools.
• Following departmental protocol, independently performs moderately complex configuration to address business data or reporting needs. Supporting ongoing operational reporting by building and editing basic to more complex hyperspace reports and dashboards.
• Engages in ongoing communication with super-users and their managers related to supported application and operational processes. Employs strong communication skills to explain moderately complex issues and influence others in reaching and implementing effective solutions.

• Develops or provides substantive input to training curriculum for online learning or in person instruction. Regularly obtains feedback from super-users and their managers. May provide specialty training to user groups.
• Participates in analyzing tickets to identify need for project-based work (e.g., enhancement, system modifications). Tracks patterns of issues to identify training needs, underlying data or reporting issues, or potential enhancement opportunities to address business operational needs.
• Coordinates the implementation of solutions impacting the supported application, the external vendor, end users, and supporting technical teams. Researches and analyzes the functionality of vendor and internally developed applications as it relates to the supported application.
• Participates in upgrades by reviewing release notes that impact the supported Epic application.
• Guides less experienced team members in necessary build and testing.

• May attend and present at external forums (i.e., Epic XGM Support – Expert Group Meeting).

In order to qualify, you must have:

• High School Diploma / GED, Bachelor’s preferred
• 1 year of experience directly involved in Epic application support and/or implementation, 3 years preferred
• Epic certification in one of the following module areas preferred:

• Cogito
• Clarity and Caboodle Data Model
• Clinical, Access or Revenue Cycle Data Model
