American Youth Academy is an Islamic-based private school located in Tampa, Florida, one of the fastest-growing communities in the entire country. AYA was established in 1992 and currently serves 900 students in grades pre-K through 12, increasing every year. One of AYA's top priorities is to create an environment and structure that allows all students to engage in experiences that prepare them for the future. As enrollment continues to grow, we are looking for additional staff and administrators to join our team to help us with our next step into the future.
Job Goal
The Islamic Studies teacher provides Islamic Studies instruction to students in grades ranging from Pre-K to 12th grade. This teacher creates an educational atmosphere where students are granted the opportunity to fulfill their potential of becoming knowledgeable and productive Muslims. The teacher is the role model and mentor of children and should aim to lead students to discover the beauty of Islam to apply knowledge into beneficial actions. Creates lesson plans, instructs students in Arabic, Qur'an, and Islamic Studies. Creates a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional program. Delivers the required curriculum with an Islamic perspective while integrating Islamic morals and values.

Primary responsibilities
Provide a positive example to students by supporting Al-Huda School’s mission of educating the next generation of Muslims who seek guidance through the Quran and practice of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

- Basic understanding of children’s emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs.

Domain 1: Classroom Strategies and Behaviors
- Provides clear learning goals with an identified objective and provides rubrics for tracking student progress.

- The lesson is structured to meet the school guidelines for maximizing student learning and is completed in the time allotted.
- The content is delivered in a comprehensive and cohesive manner where all students are demonstrating understanding.
- Helps students interact with new information by identifying critical information, chunking and elaborating on new information, and recording knowledge.
- Helps students practice and deepen new knowledge by using and practicing learning skills and strategies.
Domain 3: Planning and Preparing
- Effectively plans and prepares for lessons and units by scaffolding information into the lessons.
- Creates or selects evaluation strategies that are appropriate for the students and that are aligned with the goals of the lesson.
- Plans and prepares for the use of available resources and technology including traditional resources as well as newer tools.
- Plans and prepares for the needs of students who lack support from home, in the English language and/or Arabic language.

Record Keeping
- Maintains RenWeb per school guidelines.
- Maintains students’ grades in an organized manner.
- Updates student records and grades in a timely manner.
- Maintains school resources and textbooks in good condition.
- Submits lesson plans in a timely manner.
- Submits all requested documents in a timely manner.
- Students are challenged at their ability level as they are guided through the higher-order thinking continuum.
- Communicates high expectations for ALL students by asking probing yet guided questions for all students, particularly the low expectancy students.
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree Prefered in Arabic/Islamic studies, or a Masters's degree from an accredited institution in a related field (preferred).
- Ijaza (Certification) in teach and memorization of Quran with Tajweed and meeting any other credentialing requirements.
- Ability to encourage and inspire the students to love the Quran
- Have a good understanding of the Quran and the English language.
- Exemplify strong Islamic character and possess sound knowledge of Islam
- The candidate must be eligible to work in the United States.
Salary:
Salary will be based on background and experience.
