Title:
Interviewer and Operations Assistant – PRAMS
$16.00 - $20.00 / Part-Time – 25 hours per week / Posted Thru: 12-15-22
Location: Hybrid, Lansing, MI office
Purpose: To provide mail operations support to the Michigan Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) project and telephone interviewing and mail operations support for Michigan PRAMS for Dads project.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct follow up telephone interviews with PRAMS for Dads sample members and record respondents’ answers to scripted questions in an online survey software.
- Schedule telephone interview appointments and keep accurate records of telephone contacts.
- Assist with preparing survey materials and mail operations.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of telephone interviews and mail materials.
- Assist with data entry using the PRAMS Integrated Data Collection System (or back-up system).
- Assist the PRAMS Coordinator and PRAMS team with other activities as needed.
- Participate in PRAMS human subjects training and all other trainings required by MDHHS and the PRAMS program.
- Adhere to the PRAMS protocol.
- Report on phone and mail operations progress and productivity at weekly team meetings.
- Maintain a positive, strong, credible, professional, and interpersonal relationship with all parties relevant of MPHI projects and represent the best interest of MDHHS and MPHI at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
Two years of completed college coursework or an associate degree in public health, or a related health or social science field, preferred. Will consider survey or social science research experience and/or knowledge of maternal and child health fields.
Experience: No specific type or amount is required.
Important Skills and Characteristics:
- Good telephone and customer service skills.
- Ability to build rapport with and gain cooperation from telephone survey respondents.
- Experience with data entry and telephone interviewing or telephone customer service work is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and mail merge functions and CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing) software is useful.
- Knowledge of survey techniques would be very helpful.
- Ability to stay on task while maintaining thoughtful attentiveness to detail is critical as is possessing a desire to work collaboratively and communicate openly with a small team to improve operations and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- The ability to type at least 40 words per minute is preferred.
Work environment and Physical requirement: Workspace for confidential remote work. Ability to lift 15 pounds.

IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS: The PRAMS Interviewer and Operations Assistant has a strong impact on the efficiency and integrity of the research conducted on the projects to which he/she is assigned. This position is critical to the timely and efficient completion of the projects’ operations, as well as the timely and efficient operation of the project team.
