Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Manager of Sales and Marketing, the Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for internal communications efforts for The Villages Health to enhance employee relations and engagement and the overall patient experience as it relates to internal communications efforts.

The Internal Communications Specialist role is responsible for creating and implementing internal, team member, patient, clinician, and other related communications content and contributing to programs that actively engage internal audiences. By researching the best internal communications practices, the Internal Communications Specialist will develop solutions to help improve communications to our internal audiences, including team members, executives, clinicians, patients, and others.

The Internal Communications Specialist will be tasked with preparing strategic communications plans for The Villages Health by working with other internal departments as needed. These plans are expected to be consistent and in accordance with the organization’s vision, mission, and values. This specialist will utilize a wide variety of communication channels, including email, newsletters, texts, intranet, and social media to ensure effective, and regular communication.

Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Creates a successful internal communications function across The Villages Health that fuels team member engagement, influences connectivity and culture, positively impacts all areas of the organization, including patient relations and clinician engagement.
  • Ensures communication messaging and materials are high quality, accurate, appropriate, and integrated with The Villages Health’s priorities and mission.
  • Assists in the planning, coordination, and execution of internal team member, clinician, and/or patient events as needed and appropriate.
  • Writes and edits impactful and engaging content that effectively describes and promotes The Villages Health’s initiatives and programs across a range of communications channels.
  • Partners with the broader marketing and sales team and other teams to create and maintain pertinent content for team member and other communications channels.
  • Develops well-written, edited, styled, and audience-appropriate communication deliverables across all types of media (spoken, written, web, internal monitors, scripts, etc.) to support internal teams and initiatives. This may include, but not limited to speaking points, internal news articles, team member announcements, patient communications, responding to patient inquires/letters, intranet, and website copy.
  • Ability to react to frequent changes in duties and volume of work.
  • Effective communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Able to achieve desired results on time and under budget.
  • Comfortable accepting responsibility for small, medium, and large-scale projects involving multiple resources and spanning short to long time periods from start to finish.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent activities.
  • Initiative-taking, positive, can-do attitude with ability to work independently and on teams with willingness to accept feedback for improvement.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines while managing multiple priorities.
  • Independently obtains necessary knowledge and skills needed to keep up with technology and changing roles.
  • Other duties as assigned or needed.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications, or relevant field or equivalent in progressive work experience.
  • Preferred 3-5 years experience in communications, journalism, public relations, or relevant field with proven ability to manage internal communications projects and strategies.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
