JOB DESCRIPTION: Nurse Instructor
DESCRIPTION
The Nursing Instructor will instruct students according to the curriculum designed to assist students to build knowledge and clinical skills aimed at passing the national licensing exam. The instructor must possess the ability to work with students from different socioeconomic and educational backgrounds. The Instructor will teach a minimum of 75 hours of classroom instruction.
COMPENSATION:
The salary of employment will be contracted per class.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach course curriculum as outlined in the HPI catalogue using course materials approved and supplied by HPI administration.
- Build knowledge and develop clinical skills aimed at assisting students to obtain the skills necessary to pass course requirements and any subsequent state and national licensing exams
- Maintain accurate records on all students, including but not limited to attendance records, schedules and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content
- Evaluate and document students’ progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained
- Communicate effectively with students, and all those affiliated with the course, including staff at clinical training facilities, HPI staff, and prospective employers
- Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of good patient care
- Maintain a monthly time sheet and turn in at required deadlines
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the President of HPI.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner License in Washington and not subject to any current disciplinary action. Masters degree preferred.
- Two years’ nursing experience and at least one year of experience in the provision of health care facility services in the last five (5) years
- An instructor applicant shall also attend all seminars approved by the HPI administration to learn the methodology of teaching the course
- Ability to perform physical work with patients and students in a clinical setting
- Ability to lift at least 20 lbs.
- Ability to work nights
