JOB DESCRIPTION

The Instructional Support Consulting Teacher is responsible for providing personalized support to teachers identified as needing intervention services according to their educator evaluation. The instructional support coach will provide supports that are aligned to the individual teacher's evaluation and the school's instructional priorities. They will implore best coaching practices aimed at improving the instructional performance of assigned teachers.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES
  • Develop a plan of coaching and support for each educator placed into Peer Assessment and Review based on their areas in need of improvement as identified by the Providence teacher evaluation.
  • Assess the needs of each teacher assigned to caseload and differentiate supports. Supports may include: modeling, lesson design and planning, providing resources, tools and materials.
  • Conduct, at minimum, regular classroom observations with written and oral feedback.
  • Use peer-coaching skills during post-observation or other conferences.
  • Provide and model as needed classroom management strategies.
  • Facilitate peer observation opportunities and debrief sessions.
  • Demonstrate, model, and co-teach effective teaching strategies (including sample lessons, unit plans and other instructional materials) and intervene when necessary.
  • Provide guidance in the preparation for the teacher evaluation
  • Debrief evaluation ratings throughout the year to identify areas for improvement and appropriate supports
  • Maintain a log of daily interactions with assigned teachers
  • Communicate progress with administrators, Human Resources Peer Assistance and Review panel, and the Labor Relations team as needed
  • Make reports and recommendations to the Peer Assistance and Review panel three times a year for all teachers placed in Peer Assistance and Review through their performance on teacher evaluation.
  • Analyze data and trends to identify learning gaps and work with management to create plans for improvement.
  • Achieve certification for teacher evaluation.
  • Successfully calibrate for teacher evaluation each year.
  • Support building administrator in developing a performance improvement plan
  • Establish and maintain a cooperative relationship with each Building Administrator in their schools, conference at a minimum of once every six weeks in regards to the instructional support coach services being provided
  • Collaborate with colleagues and supervisor to identify areas of common needs among assigned teachers to develop common learning and growth experiences to address these needs
  • Develop and deliver professional development designed to meet the common needs of the educators being serviced.
  • Facilitate PLCs for educators being serviced.
  • Support in the delivery of professional development for teacher's district-wide who are engaging in the evaluation cycle.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS
  • A minimum of five years teaching experience
  • BA in applicable field from accredited college or university
  • Master's degree in the content area or curriculum and instruction (preferred)
  • Demonstrated effective classroom teaching and a rating of Highly Effective on most recent evaluation
  • Five (5) years successful teaching experience in an urban school district (preferred)
  • Previous participation in core-curriculum development work (preferred)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of content area standards and research-based teaching practices
  • Demonstrated ability to provide instructional leadership and coaching for the purpose of enabling teachers to improve their instructional practice
  • Demonstrated talent and effectiveness in written and oral communications
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively, collegially and effectively with professional staff.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, assess, and analyze data and make recommendations•
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge of effective teaching: planning and preparation, instructional pedagogy, evaluation of student achievement
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of RIICEESS Evaluation Rubric and Process
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver professional development opportunities
  • You must complete the new hire compliance training prior to your first day of employment
