Job Description
This position inspects highway, bridge, utilities, and other types of construction, including allotment work to assure quality of work and material. Work must be consistent with county and state specifications. A person serving in this position will be expected to perform the duties in a variety of weather conditions. Performs other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed below.
High School graduate preferred. Courses in drafting, surveying and engineering technology helpful. Some training and experience in highway and bridge construction. Two (2) to three (3) years of related work experience.

Description of Job Duty
The duties listed below are intended to depict tasks performed by this classification.
Inspects construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with county and state specifications. Reviews permits, road borings, and open cuts. Checks pavement restoration, grade, compaction, and alignment of pavement. Checks drainage and assures completion of repair work. Performs tests, records, and documents results, and checks for errors. Maintains records of inspection work. Prepares reports as required. May supervise or assist other inspectors as directed. Assigns house numbers when necessary.
