Responsibilities:

Peraton is seeking a Mid-Level Information System Security Analyst/ ISSO to coordinate, design, develop, implement, secure and maintain IT Security activities in support of NASA SENSE contract projects located at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. This position will allow for some telework, with travel to the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD and other NASA locations as needed, and will require a person who is within a commutable distance locally.

As prime contractor on the Peraton Space Exploration Networks Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract, Peraton is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment, and systems engineering of NASA’s worldwide satellite communication networks. In this position, you will become part of NASA’s return to the moon, support new earth and space science missions, and launch vehicles. You will be an integral part of a world class team that ensures NASA space-ground communications are reliable and meet mission requirements.

Operating here are numerous satellite ground terminals which ensure uninterrupted communications between various ground stations, NASA’s orbiting fleet of Tracking and Data Relay Satellites (TDRS), customer spacecraft (satellites), and the computer systems that support such spacecraft. NASA's facilities serve as an interface for distributing satellite data to control centers and scientists who then use the daily influx of data to expand our ever-growing knowledge of the Earth and the universe.


This position will report to the SENSE Cyber Security Manager and will be responsible for developing and managing changes inherent in development of new information technology capabilities as well as support to existing and upcoming missions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining an Enterprise level Information Technology system of access control, intrusion detection, and the associated physical, electronic, and technical security elements.
  • Collecting and maintaining data needed to meet system cybersecurity reporting.
  • Performing, or reviewing, technical security assessments of computing environments to identify points of vulnerability, non-compliance with established Information Assurance (IA) standards and regulations and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Validating and verifying system security requirements definitions and analysis, establishes system security designs.
  • Ensuring that security improvement actions are evaluated, validated, and implemented as required.
  • Ensuring that plans of actions and milestones or remediation plans are in place for vulnerabilities identified during risk assessments, audits, inspections, etc.
  • Designing, developing, implementing and/or integrating IA and security systems and system components including those for networking, computing, and enclave environments to include those with multiple enclaves and with differing data protection/classification environments.
  • Building IA into systems deployed to operational environments.
  • Participating as an information security representative on engineering teams for the design, development, implementation, and/or integration of secure networking, computing, and enclave environments.
  • Applying knowledge of IA policy, procedures, and workforce structure to design, develop, and implement secure networking, computing, and enclave environments.
  • Supporting security planning, assessment, risk analysis, and risk management.
  • Recommending system-level solutions to resolve security requirements.
  • Participating in an information security risk assessment during the Security Assessment and Authorization process.
  • Tracking audit findings and recommendations to ensure that appropriate mitigation actions are taken.
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:


  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Assurance, Cybersecurity Policy, or a related technical discipline and 5+ years of directly related experience, or a MS degree and 3+ years of experience; without a degree, 4+ years of additional related experience may be considered
  • 5+ years of experience serving in the role of ISSO, or Information System Security Analyst (ISSA)
  • Possess CASP, CISM, CISSP, or similar cybersecurity related certification(s)
  • Experience executing the NIST Risk Management Framework
  • Experience writing System Security Plans, especially Security Control
  • Executing the security assessment and authorization (or ATO) process with independent assessors
  • Security clearance - this position requires the candidate have an active DOD Secret security clearance, and to maintain the clearance, which requires a US Citizen


Desired Qualifications:

  • Already possess an active Secret security clearance
  • Current CAPM (Certified Associate of Project Management) or PMP Certification
  • Have a working, fundamental knowledge of networking and system administration concepts
  • Ability to work well individually and in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Target Salary Range: $86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
