Per the City’s COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination Policy, the City requires all employees starting on or after February 11, 2022, to provide proof of vaccination as a condition of employment absent a documented medical and/or religious exemption. Proof of vaccination means that employees are required to be “up-to-date” with regards to the COVID-19 vaccine. Consistent with the Santa Clara County Public Health Order issued on December 28, 2021, "up-to-date" means that an employee is not only "fully vaccinated," but has also obtained any booster doses of a COVID-19 vaccination for which they are eligible, within 15 days of first becoming eligible.
DOT is currently seeking to fill 1 vacancy vacancies for the Information Systems Analyst position.
The total salary range for the Information Systems Analyst classification is $59.20 to $72.12 hourly or $123,133.92 to $150,018.96 annually. This amount includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.
The City of San José Department of Transportation (DOT) seeks a full-time, benefitted Software Developer/Systems Integrator (Information Systems Analyst) to administer and maintain the core development systems and applications that enable Transportation staff to facilitate DOT’s day to day work in San Jose. This is an opportunity for a technology professional interested in working across diverse business, technology, community, and vendor stakeholders to maintain and optimize a full technology portfolio with major impact on the community.
This position in the DOT IT Division is assigned to manage Software Development and GIS integration within in the Department. The primary role of this position is to act as the technical contributor and lead in developing our applications on Salesforce with integration to our ESRI GIS backend, supporting and managing diverse departmental business systems that include web and client-server applications, databases, and use on endpoint devices. The Software Developer/Systems Integrator must ensure system architecture, service levels, and business processes for users are documented and met and that system applications meet customer expectations. This position is responsible for maintaining ongoing user training materials and systems documentation, software development, systems administration and maintenance, and sustaining excellent customer relations activities. This is a professional-level position in the IT professional management series and will be expected to act in a supervisory role to other technical positions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Information Systems Analyst in the DOT IT group has the following primary responsibilities:
- Designing databases and data models
- Software Development - Salesforce Apex & Lightning component development, .net, Java Script, Python, etc.
- Data Analytics for internal data sets using Power BI (or similar intelligence tools)
- ESRI GIS system integration with Salesforce
- Planning, developing and managing systems based on understanding and defining the customer needs
- Agile Project Management (Scrum and daily standups)
- Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD)
- System Administration

EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field.
EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional/journey level experience, of which at least two (2) years of experience include lead technical work in development, implementation and maintenance of computer systems, or application development and/or support.
ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS: Additional years of increasingly responsible directly related work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Completion of a Master's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of the required two (2) years of experience which include lead technical work in development, implementation and maintenance of computer systems, or application development and/or support.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES: Possession of a valid State of California driver’s license may be required. Certification as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), or equivalent certification from a professional organization, may be required if assigned to positions working with computer networks.
