This position is located in our Melville, NY office.

Job Summary (basic description)

The Manager Human Resources is a regional role thatprovides strategic HR guidance and support for assigned group(s) in areas such as employee relations, talent acquisition, talent development, change management, organizational development, performance management, retention, and compensation administration. Serving as link between the east coast region offices, and firmwide HR, the successful incumbent is a credible leader that is adept in influencing key stakeholders and creating best in class employee experiences.

Essential functions

  • Ability to craft regional HR goals as well as implement new policies, procedures, and approaches for the continual improvement of leaders and employees
  • Leverages strong business acumen to influence operational processes at firm and local level
  • Works closely with Office Managing Principals and Office Administrators to ensure HR policies and practices are consistently applied. Recommend changes to policies and practices as appropriate.

· Provides day-to-day performance management guidance and coaching to Office Managing Principals and managers (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, corrective actions).

· Manages and resolves employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.

  • Leverages data analytics to identify themes and make recommendations for improvement
  • Ensures proper support in all the steps of the “employees’ life cycle” for specific offices.
  • Crafts and audits job descriptions, researching compensation data, and making recommendations to the hiring manager to align with our internal structure.

· Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.

· Works closely with HR teams, firm leadership and offices s to develop strong work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

· Identifies training needs for attorneys and individual coaching needs.

· Ensures successful integration process for all hires within assigned offices.

  • Work closely with Office Managing Principals and Office Administrators to assess talent acquisition and development needs and develop and deliver solutions aligned with the office strategy.

Qualifications/Skills Required

· 8+ years of progressive human resources experience with at least 3 years of HRBP experience resolving complex employee relations issues and partnering with leadership positions on business unit objectives and change management initiatives.

· Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.

· Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.

· Experience working in a complex and matrix environment

· Excellent influencing skills; ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.

· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

· Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders to build strong working relationships and understanding.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Strong MS Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)

· Workday experience preferred

Ability to travel between offices as required (travel less then 10%)

Educational Requirements

· Bachelor’s Degree required.

· SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential
