A. Duties & Responsibilities
1. Contribute in maintaining a positive employee relations environment where employees feel that they are treated with fairness, dignity and respect and are comfortable discussing their ideas and concerns.
2. Available as first line of contact for all team member concerns and inquiries.
3. Ensure a Safe & Healthy work environment by facilitating our wellness program, and participating in JHSC & EAC & return to work initiatives as required
4. Manage, respond to and track employee wellness concerns
5. Support managers with recruitment of hourly employees from initial resume selection, telephone screening, pre-employment testing, interviews and reference checks
6. Assist in internal job posting process including postings, screening, interviewing and subsequent offers.
7. Prepare and maintain Human Resource records including vacation entitlement, pay rate/employment status changes, and performance appraisals. Ensure such changes are forwarded to payroll with proper authorization.
8. Responsible for benefits administration including enrollments with the insurance coverage providers and acting as liaison between employees and insurance providers when concerns are raised.
9. Conduct investigations and administer discipline as appropriate
10. Handle termination meetings and any subsequent communications or paperwork
11. Track and approve vacation requests and postings.
12. Create template for publication of our corporate bi-monthly newsletter Company newsletter,
13. Develop and post employee communication literature.
14. Maintain and administer attendance program including monitoring and correcting timeclock exceptions, attendance issues, point system and discipline level. Initiate appropriate action for problem cases.
15. Act as intermediary for inquiries relating to payroll for resolution.
16. Maintain and coordinate all training programs as they relate to divisional training matrixes and employee needs. Ensure that all training is being kept up to date and properly recorded in employee training records.
17. Employee files maintenance, updating overtime equalization and HRIS systems.
18. Conduct New employee orientation, Safety Centre or Training Centre sessions with new and existing employees
19. Conduct color testing and recording.
20. Coordinate and participate as a member of the divisional Joint Health and Safety Committee.
21. Track and report any HR KPI measurable as requested by the HR Director such as Attendance/Absenteeism, Training, Turnover, and Recruitment. Formulate action plans as required.
22. Assist in projects and special functions.
23. Assist with other administrative duties as required.
24. Perform other duties as requested by the Human Resources Director, Plant/Production Manager. or Human Resources Manager.
25. Assist with employee communications and presenting of such materials (I.e.; bi-weekly, bi-monthly meetings)
26. Assist with coordination and execution of employee recognition and social events (I.e.; Holiday Party, Family picnic etc.)
27. Facilitate and or coordinate any required Health & Training
28. Order and distribute various shop floor supplies
29. Facilitate employee meetings (i.e.; Focus Groups)
30. Regularly conduct PLEX audits
31. Assist with external recruitment activities
32. Conduct Respirator Fit testing
B. Minimum Qualifications
1. Post-secondary education preferred.
2. Human Resources Professional (C.H.R.P.) designation or equivalent required.
3. 1-3 years HR experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
C. Required Skills
1. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel etc.
2. Good oral and written communication skills.
3. Knowledgeable in all related Statutory employment legislation.
4. Excellent organizational and time planning skills.
5. Good knowledge of related Occupational Health and Safety requirements
6. Detail oriented and capable for working with minimal supervision.
7. Understanding of key Quality & Environmental Management Systems procedures related to job function.
