Functions as human resources assistant for the Pee Dee Public Health Region Human Resources office. Assists in areas of recruitment. hiring, orientation, benefits, data management, time management, and workman’s compensation.
Recruitment / Hiring: Uses NeoGov to track/maneuver, pass/fail applicants and provide to hiring manager. On chosen applicant, completes background/reference checks, obtains degree/transcripts, licenses, ensures eligibility for new hires/re-hires and sends to HR Consultant. Sends rejection letters and closes job in NeoGov.
New Hire Orientation: Uses Liquid Office for completion of new hire paperwork, including insurance/retirement selection, E-Verify, and FootPrints for computer access and creation of ID Badge.
Benefits / Employment Status Assistance: Assists employees with beneficiary changes, attends yearly open enrollment meetings, assists with open enrollment changes, assists employees with special eligibility/life changes, and updates PAIS.
Personnel File Maintenance: As needed, pulls Position Descriptions, files all requisite personnel paperwork in files, ensures confidentiality, and makes time corrections.
Workers' Compensation: Completes appropriate paperwork for each case, serves as liaison for employee, DHEC, and Compendium. Tracks all cases/outcomes and completes annual Workers' Compensation Report.
State Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and administrative experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience.
Relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree upon Division of State Human Resources approval.
Proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel.
Able to use discretion in handling confidential information.Please note that the agency may require an official, certified copy of your transcript or diploma prior to hiring.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
DHEC employees are required to participate in disaster preparedness during hazardous weather or declaration of an emergency. This involves being subject to duty and or call on a 24-hour basis.
You must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a reliable transportation.
This position may require working early (before 8:30 am), evening (after 5:00 pm) and/or Saturday's.
