HAN Capital is adding an HR Assistant to join our growing team. The HR Assistant will provide administrative support to the HR department, including maintaining personnel records, managing employee benefits, and assisting with recruitment and hiring processes. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills, be detail-oriented, and have a passion for HR.

Objectives of this Role

  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
  • Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  • Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Provides clerical support to the HR department.
  • May assist with payroll functions including processing, answering employee questions, fixing processing errors, and distributing checks.
  • May assist with recruitment efforts by organizing and editing job descriptions, posting on and monitoring job boards, soliciting applications from resume pools, researching other job posting options by area.
  • Conducts or assists with new hire orientation including fulfilling items such as uniforms, business cards, email accounts, and proper access requests..
  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update employee records, including employment contracts, timesheets, and personal data
  • Assist with the recruitment process by posting job ads, reviewing resumes, and scheduling interviews
  • Assist with onboarding and orientation of new hires, including preparing paperwork and conducting orientation sessions
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies and procedures
  • Assist with performance management and employee development programs
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as reasonably assigned/required

Skills and Qualifications

● HR experience with largely remote staff is a plus

● 1-2 years of experience in HR or administrative support role

● Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness

● Resourceful, problem-solving aptitude and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies

● Strong tact and confidentiality

● Advanced knowledge of MS Office and comfortable learning new technical systems as needed

● Able to meet tight deadlines and works well under pressure

Preferred Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or a related field a plus

● Proven experience working in an HR department

● Natural interpersonal and communication skills

● Strong detail-oriented and resourceful mindset

● Knowledge of HR federal laws and regulations

***This is a full-time position. Opportunity for some occasional light travel to our facilities within NW Indiana and our HQ in Lincolnwood, IL. ***

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $33,500.00 - $40,500.00 per year
