Job description

We're looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Housing Location Specialist to join our Community-Based Care Management (CBCM) program in Norristown, PA!


The CBCM program at Carson Valley Children's Aid secures affordable and permanent housing for individuals who have previously been hospitalized for mental health concerns. As a Housing Specialist, you will be instrumental in generating interest in the program among landlords and property managers, identifying suitable housing units for individuals in need, and fostering positive relationships between landlords and tenants.

Role Type:
Full-time


Work Schedule:
Generally Monday through Friday, flexible hours. Occasional weekday evening and weekend work is required.


Work Setting:
50% office, 40% home and community settings throughout Montgomery County, 10% relevant meetings and events


Essential Job Functions:

  • Implement strategies for landlord recruitment and retention including the use of social media.
  • Set up meetings with new owners and property managers to explain the housing program.
  • Ensure that properties pass inspection requirements and that landlords understand the expectations.
  • Negotiate rental amounts and move-in dates with landlords.
  • Mediate conflict between landlords and tenants and find solutions to reported problems.
  • Foster positive ongoing relationships with landlords and property managers.
  • Maintain a landlord/owner database and tracking logs for property inspections.
  • Develop and host annual landlord engagement events.
  • Maintain knowledge of housing resources, market changes, and federal/state/local fair housing laws to educate staff and clients.
  • Meet with the Housing Resource Center individuals and families in their housing units.
  • Actively participate in supervision, meetings, trainings, etc.
  • Complete housing forms, reports, case notes, and move-in packets in a timely and detailed manner.


Role Requirements:

  • Must identify with ONE of the following (required)
    • Bachelor's degree in business, human services, or another related field
    • 5+ years of experience related to the housing market, sales, marketing, real estate, or property management
  • Working knowledge of Montgomery County rental market (preferred)
  • Valid driver's license, daily access to a vehicle, and car insurance (required)
