Job description

Helps coordinate activities of dining room to provide the highest quality of service to Vestavia Country Club's members and guests; in accordance with established Vestavia Country Club and departmental policies and procedures.

JOB DUTIES:

• Receives and greets members and guests.

• Suggests and describes daily specials, available appetizers, entrees, desserts, alcoholic beverages and wines to members and guests.

• Assures that pre-opening cleaning tasks are assigned and completed as required.

• Inspects dining room serving stations for neatness and cleanliness, and requisitions table linens and other dining room supplies for tables and serving stations.

• May schedule work hours and keep time records of dining room workers.

• Coordinates food service between kitchen and service staff.

• Resolves member and guest complaints.

• Assures that all safety, accident and emergency policies and procedures are in place and consistently followed.

• Assures that revenue control procedures are continually followed.

• Provides layout and design recommendations to applicable managers.

• Suggests dining room decorations for special themes.

• Manages the guest reservation system and/or a waiting list if necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Basic skills in reading and writing.
• Minimum one-year experience as server in a banquet setting preferred.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills, attention to detail, excellent organizational skills.
• A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.
• Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating professionally and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organization.
• Organizational skills for efficient office control are mandatory
• Interact professionally with other employees, members and guests and work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
• Perform quality work within deadlines.
• Must be available for emergency and scheduled work requirements on evenings, weekends, or holidays
• Must be available to work flexible shifts and overtime if necessary.
• Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 30 lbs.
• Requires long periods of time standing, lifting, carrying trays, frequent bending and reaching.
• Essential hand/eye coordination.
• Frequent exposure to kitchen cooking smoke, steam, high temperatures, humidity, extreme cold.
• Communicates with grill cooks and other servers.
• Substantial repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
• Hazards may include, but are not limited to, cuts from knives, slipping, tripping falls and burns.
• Frequent washing of hands will require contact/immersion of hands in water, sanitation solutions, meat products, poultry products, seafood and produce items.

Physical Requirements

• Must be available for emergency and scheduled work requirements on evenings, weekends or holidays
• Must be available to work flexible shifts and overtime if necessary.
• Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 25 lbs. occasionally

Pay: $11.00 - $13.50 per hour
