Job description

ISO part time farm help on horse farm in Glen Arm MD. Great opportunity for retiree or young person just starting out. Must be fit and able to lift 50 lbs regularly and work in all weather.

Work varies seasonally. Mowing / weed whacking / spraying / fixing fences / clearing trees / putting out hay / spreading salt / maintenance projects. Some barn work required as needed (cleaning stalls, water troughs). Horse experience preferred but not required. Handyman skills a plus. Additional hours available for the right person. Room to increase pay. 2 week paid trial.

Safety, good communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions is required. Ability to drive a tractor and zero turn mower required. Ability to operate weed trimmer and chainsaw required. The ability to maintain equipment is a huge plus (changing oil, air filters, mower blades etc). Personal cell phone required.

Hours are flexible between 7am and noon WEEKDAYS, Mon/Wed/Fri preferred, 6 to 12 hours per week. More hours after bad weather and in the height of grass cutting season. Do not apply if you are not available on weekday mornings.

Very relaxed atmosphere but you must be able to act respectfully around and towards clients and children. Working independently is very important, we have a friendly team vibe in the barn. You may be paired with experienced volunteers to work on projects or in very inclement weather.

Must pass a background check and have your own reliable transportation - even in bad weather. $13/hr paid as a contractor with room for a pay increase based on independence and accuracy.
