History Project Coordinator (Student & Staff Wage)
Job description
Help us discover and celebrate our history! The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) is seeking a student or interested individual to research the department's history with an emphasis on the people involved, particularly notable "firsts" and community members who represent all the forms of diversity in the department. We seek to create several framed visual displays highlighting the photos and stories of diverse historical and current members of the MSE department community to be displayed in the MSE office suite and also to create text to add to the MSE website highlighting diverse community members. This individual will research the MSE department's history through interviews with past and current members and exploring university resources. Finally, this researcher will work to create text and visual displays. Work is up to 10 hours per week, Fall Semester 2022, $15/hour and may be on-going in future semesters. Work can be done remotely and at flexible hours, but meeting regularly with the supervisor and some in-person interviews with department members are required.
Qualifications: demonstrated interest in history and writing; excitement about helping MSE discover and celebrate our history and our diversity; ability to work independently; completed or enrolled in BA/BS degree program; background in science or engineering not required.
