We seek a paper mill/pulp mill-experienced “Assistant Superintendent – Power Boiler & Recovery Boiler” for our utilities area. This role required a leadership experience and a full understanding of Boilers and high voltage power systems/powerhouse.

MISSION / SUMMARY: Roles and Responsibilities include: This position reports directly to the Power & Recovery Superintendent and will provide day to day leadership for all department employees to improve safety, environmental compliance, quality, cost control and production for the Power/Recovery operation GPI pulp and paper mill in Macon, Georgia.
JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.
- Actively promote and model safety in all aspects of daily mill operations.
- Work with supervisors to coach, lead, support and develop production personnel
- Assist with implementing continuous improvement
- Assist with managing outage scheduling
- Assist in all manufacturing activities in a manner that meets or exceeds performance and budget expectations
- Work with supervisors to implement effective training plans for each shift and develop the workforce
- Support the goals and initiatives of all departments of the mill
- Effectively communicates up and down the organization on key issues (e.g. performance feedback, employee issues, etc.)
- Ensures completion of all required paperwork, schedules, work orders, etc.
- Verifies operator rounds are completed and recorded.
- Assist in developing training programs for salaried and hourly employees in the Power and Recovery areas.
- Provide leadership with the implementation of problem-solving strategies and execution of key performance objectives in the generation and distribution of steam, electrical power, and chemical recovery operations.

- The successful candidate must exhibit proven ability to self-manage in a dynamic, unionized fast paced environment.
- SAP and a working knowledge of six sigma principles preferred.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
- Five (5) years of in Utility areas including recovery boilers in the pulp and paper industry.
- SAP and a working knowledge of six sigma principles preferred.
