Purpose of position:
- Responsible for building an offshore project pipeline by origination, acquisition, greenfield development and tender participations of offshore projects in the Americas West region
- Ensuring a healthy pipeline in line with approved strategy and growth targets; providing input into the approved strategy and any necessary changes to the strategy
- Develop the projects up to the later of the receipt of all consents or receipt of an offtake mechanism for handover to Construction & Project Delivery
- Support Construction & Project Delivery and Operations in the successful delivery of each project including completion all development commitments
- Support RWE Offshore External Affairs and brand development strategies
Essential Functions:
- Build and maintain a pipeline of offshore projects within the Americas West region consistent with the offshore growth strategy.
- Originate new offshore projects/options in the Americas West region.
- Scout new markets and investment opportunities in Americas West region, possibly including Canada and Central and South America
- Collaborate with Partnering function to acquire new projects/options or start partnerships.
- Prepare for and effectively participate in respective tenders/auctions for offshore wind to gain development, grid connection and/or offtake rights
- Develop projects in line with technical, commercial and HSSE standards, to deliver construction options ready for final investment decision at attractive project economics
- Obtain all relevant permits and rights to construct projects
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
- Establish effective relationships with external stakeholders such as project partners, Government authorities, landowners, local stakeholders, etc.
- Complete Grid connection arrangements with grid operator
- Support Construction & Project Delivery in obtaining Final Investment Decision (FID)
- Ongoing support during Construction & Project Delivery to ensure successful project construction and operations while delivering on development commitments
- Support implementation of RWE Offshore External Affairs and brand development strategies
- Support internal and external recruiting efforts
- Promote RWE principles and ideals including but not limited to We Care initiatives to promote employee health, safety and well-being.

- Problem Solving – Ability to troubleshoot, understand, execute and communicate root causes and implement solutions to resolve issues.
- Flexibility – Willing and available to travel (25-50%), must be able to make the necessary adjustments to the plans to respond to changing conditions, i.e. energy markets, project schedules, supply chain and energetic availability.
Work Experience & Education Requirements
- Experience: 10+ years of project development experience, 5+ years Renewable industry working experience
- University degree or equivalent. Post graduate degree a plus.
- Role-specific skills: Successfully delivered Offshore development projects through to FID. Business development experience in complex setting of commercial, technical and regulatory boundary conditions. Success driven personality, dedicated to deliver growth. Strong commercial understanding. Strong HSE and wellbeing mindset. Strong regional network and ability to build trusted relationships with partners & stakeholders.
- Certifications: PMP and/or Charter Financial Analyst a plus
