Kennebec Behavioral Health seeks a Harm Reduction & Prevention Specialist to join its Substance Use Prevention and Intervention Team. Funded by Maine’s Project to Prevent Prescription Drug and Opioid Overdose-Related Deaths Grant, the Harm Reduction Specialist will increase collaboration across State & Local government, community-based organizations, and local partners as well as increase the capacity of Somerset County to reduce opioid-related drug overdose deaths by implementing evidence-based strategies. Key activities of this position include, but are not limited to:

· Enhancement of Somerset County Substance Use Task Force to specifically address harm reduction;

· Conducting an environmental scan to identify community assets, needs, and gaps in knowledge and resources;

· Organizing or providing community trainings on overdose prevention and related issues such as stigma, the science of addiction, adverse childhood experiences, etc. to civic organizations, people who use drugs, first responders, recovery coaches/centers, affected others, and other community members and/or organizations;

· Ensuring access to Naloxone within Somerset County as a Tier II distributor; and

· Developing a comprehensive overdose prevention and response plan.

This is a 32 hours/week; regular part-time position (benefits are eligible and will be pro-rated), that will be housed in our Skowhegan office and serves the entirety of Somerset County. Travel throughout the county is required. Individuals with lived experience related to substance use are encouraged to apply.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in human services, related field, or community health preferred. Prevention Specialist Certified (PS-C), or Provisional Prevention Specialist (PPS) eligibility a must. CADC preferred, but not required. Lived experience with substance use disorder preferred.
