Currently recruiting for Girls’ Team Development Coach
This is a part-time position with a chance for full-time and additional recreational hours.
Starting pay is $20/hour. Must be available Monday-Friday with some weekend hours.
Job Summary
Assists Head Gymnastics Coach with the supervision and instruction of gymnastics at all competitive levels.
Essential Job Functions
- Oversee and coach competitive gymnastics skills for all levels as directed by the Head Gymnastics Coach. Provide input to Head Coach in developing long range training plans including goals, timelines, and methods of evaluation for all competitive levels of gymnastics.
- Teach gymnastics classes in a professional, positive, safe, and respectful manner.
- Supervise and coach gymnastics for all competitive levels under the direction of the Head Gymnastics Coach.
- Follow training schedules established by the Head Gymnastics Coach.
- Meet weekly with Head Gymnastics Coach to evaluate weekly training results, review competitions, and assist in planning the next weeks training schedule.
- Travel to competitions with the team to coach as assigned by the Head Gymnastics Coach or Gymnastics Manager. Follow and carry out travel schedules. Ensure gymnasts representing MAC follow the Athletic Code of Conduct.
- Oversee team training, scheduling, tryouts, parent communications, etc. under the supervision of the Head Gymnastics Coach.
- Assist Recreational Supervisor in teacher training during clinics and workshops.
- Keep accurate progression records for team athletes.
- Report unsafe conditions or activities immediately to the Gymnastics Manager and resolve as appropriate.
- Assist Gymnastics Manager and Head Gymnastics Coach in the daily, weekly, monthly, and annual operation of the gymnastics department.
- Assist Gymnastics Manager and Head Gymnastics Coach identify ongoing needs of the gymnastics program. Submit written reports to the Gymnastics Manager upon request. Assist Head Gymnastics Coach in promoting a positive and professional gymnastics experience to MAC members, gymnasts, staff, and members of the gymnastics community.
- Organize gymnastics competitions and events as directed by the Gymnastics Manager.
- Communicate member concerns to the Gymnastics Manager or Head Gymnastics Coach.
- Maintain standards of exemplary gymnastics conduct at all times.
- Conduct conferences, meetings, and teach lessons with tact, warmth, and sincerity.
- Answer questions regarding the gymnastics program, as necessary.
- Attend all scheduled gymnastics staff meetings, clinics, workshops, seminars, etc.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Secondary Functions
- Performs other tasks as assigned by Head Coach and Gymnastics & Dance Manager.
- Participates in all club-related training classes.
Essential Tools, Equipment, Vehicles, and/or Machinery
Essential job functions require the use of a computer, safe operation of all gymnastics apparatus and teaching aids including spotting apparatus.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Essential job functions require frequent walking, stooping, bending, squatting, and lifting. Must be able to hand spot or lift beginning through advanced level gymnasts, move easily on soft and or irregular surfaces, and stand on feet for up to four hours at a time. Ability to hear instructions, questions, and loose equipment in a noisy environment.
Qualifications
1. Three years competitive gymnastics coaching experience, gymnastics teaching experience or an equivalent combination of both
2. Comprehensive knowledge of the current competitive gymnastics rules, regulations, and policies.
3. Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and planning skills.
4. Demonstrated skill in team development and motivation.
5. Ability to communicate effectively with other staff and adult and junior members.
6. Ability to promote a positive and professional gymnastics experience to MAC members, gymnasts, staff, and the local gymnastics community.
7. Ability to perform essential job functions.
